by the way, if you look hard enough, you can see some of the 'authentic SS soldiers' wearing tarnjacken (camo) made out of good ol' US army surplus woodland camouflage!

if you want to see a GREAT military movie that rivals SPR for action, go down and rent 'Stallingrad' which is about, you guessed it, stallingrad! Because it was made in germany, the film makers actually talked with and listened to the actual veterans and to suggestions (kinda like what this forum is suppoed to be like, except this forum shuns the people who actually knows what they talk about). As such it IS an accurate AND great movie with plenty of gore for those of you who like that stuff...

And the commander of the C Company of the 2nd Ranger Bn. was CPT Gorranson.

I like SPR for the way it shows realistic war effect... with blood, guts, members, pain like the f***'in real war.

The seem to be historical but not at all story really make me sick.

AAAWWWW, The music in Stalingrad really sucked...Though the movie was very good, I particularly liked the scene in which Rollo, Von Witzland, um, Gege and, oh, The Big Nosed one went down into the sewers with the flamethrower...As well as the T-34 attack (they may be KV-1's, aint seen the movie for awhile), but I'm wondering, why do they use the same halftrack at least 3 times during the movie ?
Also, and I'm not sure 'bout this one, but, when the soldier is ordered to "smoke out" the Russians in the factory, Isn't he holding a plain old steilhandgranate (I could be wrong) and the amount of destruction is enormous? And why couldn't the Russians hit him ?, And he was AT LEAST 30 yards away when he threw it...

Anywho, A great movie...And some of the blood looks ridiculous, almost like dyed water...

maybe you guys (not Tibi) should stop basing all of your knowledge off of movies. They are ALL in someway 'hollywoodized' and are crap. To burst your bubble: SPR was TOTALLY FICTION! there was NO policy in the US or ANY army to bring back a person because his brothers died. If you want to learn something watch the real movies from the era, ie "Mannen Gehgen Panzer", read a book, or ask a veteran questions, they don't bite... ...well except that one...

...when Herbert Werner, a U-boat Kapitan from '42-'45, lost his entire family, his mother, father, sister, Fiance, cousin, and grandparents in allied bombing raids, he didn't get to go home. He didn't even get so much as leave!

It wasn't a policy Burgen: it was a personal order issued by one of the high-ranking officers of the "typing" center.. hence you'll have to look elsewhere in the movie for your fictional material.
