Your sentiments are how I view America and the rest of the world. I've got no problem helping out the less fortunate. I think it's our responsiblilty as humans to respond to people who are truly in need. It's the sense of entitlement to government sponsored programs by some individuals that erks me. Instead of throwing good money after bad at social programs that many have come to view as their right, the system needs a serious overhaul. I'm probably a little jaded living and working in the DC area. I used to be a circulation manager for USA Today and being in the city at 3am I got to see the dregs of society at their finest. I saw first hand many of the things that are routinely posted here. Excuse me if I don't sympathize with the people who routinely harassed me just for doing my job.
The truth is I don't believe that George Bush is a rocket scientist. I would even be inclined to vote Democratic if they would have nominated a candidate who was a little more centered. Alas, the primaries tend to be more a contest of who can be the polar opposite of the other party. I guess that's why we'll never see good sensible people like John McCain nominated. At any rate, I don't think Kerry will do any worse than Bush, he's just not my cup of tea. Simple as that.
