I agree that "officers" shouldn't be harder than normal soldiers. After all, they are ALL the same: humans doing a job. I'd be a hell of a lot more terrified seeing a guy with a SMG than an officer with a *lol* pistol.

Their attitudes, reactions and moods/tempers should be randomly chosen to fit a "Real world" model. You could have a very brave infantryman just like you could have an officer shitting in his pants, dropping to his knees begging for his life.

Just my opinion on A.I.

If you want, add percentages to the mix:

an officer has a 50% chance of being very brave, 25% chance of fighting while running away from you, 25% chances (depending on how you "caught" him) of dropping to his knees or going ballistic on you..

I don't think such a model would be hard to implement, however, I am not a programmer so I could be wrong.

My suggestion is to forward my posts on the topic to your lead programmer so he can evaluate the feasability of these ideas, unless EA folks have their minds set on "higher rank, tougher enemy".

Im just praying it isn't like a doom type of thing where the officer takes 2 bandoliers to kill . I would summise since hes an officer he might have grunt protection

"Grunt protection" is possible, but I'm thinking about 1 soldier at a time. Sure, they can be in groups; but the soldiers making up the group SHOULD have unique properties : one will be ballistic and charge ahead while others could stay back taking pot shots..

Of course, when the officer is there, if he gives an order, they absolutely have to go for it.

Well if it isn't what i or you said im stumped. Has to be one of those options for the officer to be a "difficult enemy".

It *is* possible that you meet a hardened fighter who has a little more experience than the new infantrymen, but they should still have distinct personalities and combat preferences.

They are simply following the WOLFENSTEIN ideology : the higher the rank, the tougher and harder the enemy is to beat. But goddamnit they shouldn't require more than 10 bullets to kill ! Be realistic!

Bah, I'll just shut up and take what they give me.

1) Did ya find out if the water ripple efect when your men are mving through it is still in the game? I checked all the water screenshots i could find and still cant see it

2)On the ea website it says ths about a field officer

quote:
The Wehrmacht Field Officers are nasty and much more difficult to eliminate. They use an MP-40 SMG and Walther P38 pistol and wear the officer style cap, gray/green officers tunic with riding breeches, knee high boots and a pistol holster.

What i cant understand is what makes em much more difficult?? Do they take more hits as this would make the game very unrealistic, or are they guarded by other grunts which makes getting to em hard?

nope, just workin'

I haven't had the time to look into the ripples just yet, working on other levels currently (things are really busy here .

As for enemy balance, it is following a rank structure where higher ranking soldiers will be a bit tougher. Not in terms of hit points mind you (no you won't have the 5000 mega Nazi Gestapo guy . More in terms of weapons they will use, and their accuracy, tenacity, aggression, things on that nature. Finding them more in squads than not sort of thing. His tendancy to be smart and stay / fire from behind cover rather than exposing himself to fire (making him more difficult to kill), his grenade perception and ability to retreat / throw them back at you. It's an overall combination of all these factors.

elmagoo: You mentioned accuracy as one of the officers "traits", but If they're firing a pistol, probably a Walther P.38, those things are as inacurate as hell, so are you saying he's going to be more accurate than, say, a regular Infantryman with say, a Gewher 43 (or other rifle, scoped or unscoped)?
