Official Half Life 2 thread -

Tee hee
Ok, was wanting a clear a few things with you people before the big day arrives 2moro, right then, I know HL2 requires an internet connection to activate the game but this is my dilemma:
1. Older Dell PC has internet but isn't good enough for HL2
2. New PC doesn't have internet because I'm having trouble with the modem drivers for it at the moment, so my question is 'to play HL2 do I have to have the internet on the actual gaming pc or do you think it'll be ok. It's Steam that will be installed yea? so it won't give me a password or anything?
I know it'd seem easy to say 'just plug the modem in ur usb on the new pc to register than it'll work' but thats my current problemo, a modem driver problemy.
If I do have to have a net connection on my gaming rig then I might have to wait a while before I can even play it, doh!
So yah, post questions n stuff, no doubt most of you will be in half life hermit land like me after it's released. dance:

Install steam on the old computer. Activate HL2 to your account, tomarrow. Uninstall Steam.
Install steam on good computer. Log into the account you activated HL2 on. Play HL2.

Was reading in this article gamespot did http://www.gamespot.com/features/6112889/index.html after the game ships a while later theyre gonna be releasing "ati levels" for it. Not sure wtf that means, if they run better on ati or what.
Theyre even doing tv adverts for hl2 over here as well, last pc game i remember having a tv commercial was allied assault, pc games don't ususally get that kind of attention on tv over here.

I'm jerking off right now.
I also can't believe how easy it was to acquire my free pre-loaded copy of the game. I congratulate valve for their distribution efforts here.

Just to verify this, I'm ok bout 1st part.......you say install steam on good computer then log into my account, do I not need the internet to log into my account? remember I don't have the net on the new pc. Soz if I'm sounding n00b-ish.
Can anyone answer this? I'm running out of time, as I glance over to my HL2 Countdown Clock it currently reads "08hrs 53mins 07scs"

I touched HL2 last night in the stockroom. Its box art is pretty. I'll sneak it out of the backroom tomorrow before opening, i guess my shitty ass job has some perks. I got halo2 before the store opened, and the same story will happen with hl2.
