Default Power Supply - 11-21-2004, 02:10 PM

I want to purchase a better gfx card, probably an ATI Radeon 9800 pro, Problem is that I realized my power supply only has an output of 160 watts oOo:

My question is how do I know if the 300-400 watt power supply I buy will be compatiable with my computer? Does it have to do with the motherboard or can any power supply work with any computer?

Calling Gateway Tech Support did not work as I waited 5 minutes for an answer and when it finally came I couldn't understand what the person was saying.

Thanks, but is there such a thing as getting too high of a power supply where I would i risk ruining something?

Most 300 watt supplies I have looked at have stated they work "For Pentium II/III/4, K6, Athlon"

Edit: danke I will look at pricewtach again.
