I think you are supposed to blow up the chopter before continuing. You might have to go back to the save point before you ditched the airboat and start over. Or just skip to the next level, you are at the end anyways.

(On another good note, the ati beta drivers helped alot with the stutters, and there was some kind of update that halped it even more, i get practically none.)
