Default Moving sideways - 08-09-2002, 05:23 PM

The last few times I played at the aa.com server I had a couple of weird problems ..... After playing for about 30 mins. all of a sudden when I respawn I start moving to the right and I'm not pushing any keys. I can move forward and backward with the keys but not left , I just keep going to the right. Needless to say, this is not good. I tried disconnecting from server and hooking back up to no avail , I have to restart the game to fix it ..... This ever happen to anyone else? Any suggestions as to what to do to keep it from happening ? ..... Another wierd one , I'll be playing along just fine and respawn and I can barely move even when I holster my weapon and I noticed that when I type for chat it comes out in caps and my caps lock is not on ... I'd apppreiate any help as these problems are happening more and more frequently . Do I need to reinstall the game ?

Don't know oldguy,

When in doubt do like Data suggested shut down completely. Could be an OS / MOH:AA thing.

Check to see what your system resources are. My daughters computer was doing some strange things. Turned out she had a bad fan on the CPU. Replaced the fan and cleaned the dust. all is well now.

Good luck and let us know if anything works.

Hey Oldguy. I haven't had that problem on the aa.com server, but I did have it happen a couple of times on another one. My problem was I could go forward and backward but not left or right. Like Data said I rebooted my computer and had no problem. I thought that my problem was XP related. When my kids "switch users" it changes my mouse settings. I have a five button mouse with the side buttons set for leaning. Sometimes my lean keys don't work. However, I can get out of the game log everybody out, including myself, and when I log back in everything is fine. In the case, I don't have to reboot, but to solve the former problem, rebooting was the only way I could fix it.

Is it a USB keyboard? If system resourcses are low (as tehy usually are while playing a 3D game) USB transfer rates are slow, and that may cause the problem. Also you might have a bad bey board,, try wapping it out with a different one.

Hey redsoccerdevil - Mine is a USB keyboard so there might be something to that. I wasn't sure what a "bad bey board" was, so I improvised and used a two-by-four. When I "wapped out" my keyboard and computer with it, it made alot of sparks and now it won't work. Are you sure I was supposed to do that?

Ya Rude dog

When ever I have a clan practice/match, I don't play it when my PC is on for a wile. I reboot it then connect, then I play with out probs most of the time.

Same deal with my connection, I reboot and it somewhat goes faster

If you have to reboot your computer for whatever reason to fix a problem, it is almost always a resource conflict. It happens a lot with NIC cards for some reason, usually because they take up the same IRQ as, say, your sound card. Whether your low on resources, well, that's dependant on your system. As for the moving back and forth, it could be due to latency, which results in lag when playing the game. Or, it could be a hardware related issue. If it happens all the time, well, It just might be a bug. As you can see, there are many possibilities, more then I can mention. Hope some of this helps.

i bet its just a minor glitch. you should probably exit the game and then re enter again. that is what i would probably do.

Thanks for the info guys , the last couple of times I played it worked okay and when it does happen I can fix it by restarting the game and then hooking back up to server .... but the last time I played my leans wouldn't work . I have them set up on the mouse side buttons and they were working fine , could be something with the mouse software , I'll have to T/S it some.

No, still using the ME that came on the PC , I thought about upping it to XP but I talked to a couple of peeps that did it and they had some problems , so I decided to wait until I get a new PC which I'm hoping will be late this year. ..... Oh yeah, the leans on the side mouse buttons worked okay last night in the server, I think maybe the mouse software didn't load right or something when they didn't work before.

I upgraded from ME to XP, but I did it the hard way. I put in a new motherboard and hard drive at the same time. I had a few minor problems. Now everything is working great and I like XP better than ME. The only problem that I have is, as I said before, if my kids log on after I do it changes some of my game settings. I'm not sure why. There might be a way to fix it but I'm too lazy to worry about it. You might try going on the Windows web site to see if there is an updated mouse driver.
