Good luck. . .

IIRC correctly (dont know since Ive had mine modded for awhile) - they no longer sell certain mod chips. . .some legal bullshit. . .

Anyway - you can no doubt find dealers with older chips to chip your PS2. . .just do a search for PS2 Modders - should find one close to you that you can send your system to.

After that definitely get the PS2 Adapter and a Hard Drive. . .rip games, slap them on HD, play from HD with almost no load time ever. . .oh and obviously DRE's are non-existent.

I went to some vietnamese guys trailer in litte saigon. he modded the hell out of my system for $80 and took him 4 hours to do it becuase he kept talking about politics, religion and all this other bullshit. the mod is great, you can even reset it (turn it off) by hitting the reset button on your PS2 a couple of times. I dont know what he wired or if he used chips (didnt notice any), but it works great and havent had a single problem with it for the past 2 years.

Unless you have one of the new thin PS2 systems, they have the adapter built in but you CANNOT use the HD with them.

no he modded it, he saudered (sp?) the wires and whatever else a mod set comes with to the set. I had to buy two PS2 systems, because the first set i had was an older set. He opened it up and said that he couldnt mod it because it was manufactured with other parts. There seemed to be a metal plate in the way of where the chipset was supposed to be. So i went to wal mart and bought another PS2 that belonged to the SPCH39001 series. I switched the sets (it still worked) and returned the older PS2 to walmart. I dont have the network or hard drive set up to my PS2, but my friend has that set up with his Xbox and replayTV. Sounds like the best thing to do. But my mod works great.
