Default AGP, PCI? - 08-19-2002, 02:01 PM

My computer is relatively new(February). I've opened this sucker up and it appears I have 3 pci slots. One for my sound card, one for my graphics card, and a free one. I dont, however, see an AGP slot. Is it possible for newer Computers to NOT have AGP slots? If I dont have one, what are my options? I really want a gf4, and I dont want to be limited to the MX PCI version. Thanks in advance for any help.

Looks like your graphics are built onto the motherboard.
Unfortunately your only option right now is a PCI video card

What make and model (exact ) is your computer. You can
look it up on the manufactures web site to see what options
are installed.

Good Luck.

Default New Computer???? - 08-19-2002, 03:03 PM

If you ever go to get a NEW computer...

Make 100% sure that there are NO INTEGRATED COMPONENTS

Example - nic card "Built In" or "On Board"
This usually means that the nic card is part of the mother board

Stay away from any computer that has integrated components!
At lease for gaming

right. your computer was built as a workstation, not a gaming machine. they cut down on things like graphics cards, sound cards, etc. to lower the price and appeal to more users. besides, they figure someone looking for just a workstation wont need any of those anyways.

you can get a gf4 MX pci card. im thinking thats your best choice (no Ti chips for PCI)

Check the specks of a PCI card, then check the specs of the AGP.......

Ok I have a GeForce 3Ti 200 128ddr When I go into the properties it says AGP (PCI mode) is there away to change this? It is a AGP card. Or is this normal?
