Ohhhhhhhh this was the perfect time for this convo to come up.

I was just playing [a href/OLDSCHOOL] System Shock and Fallout 1/2 [end teh oldzchool plzplz] today, and let me say: Really, truly perfect game design is still powerful 100 years after it comes out. How many people, even still, play Pong? At last years Penny-arcade Expo, the end game challenge for like some huge prize was to win a game of Pong.

Challenging, well designed, games with immersive storylines will transcend any age. Hell, parts of World of Warcraft still get compared to Frogger (dont ask, its too complex and nerdy to explain)

However, as with any good movie, the setting will always fuel sooooo much of the story. Likewise, if Fallout had taken place in a lush grassy field, it wouldnt have been any good at all, you wouldnt have felt the harsh, dead atmosphere. So, unfortunately, the better the graphics, the more immersive and amazing the story will remain. Terrible tie-in that one...because you go back and play games and spend nearly the whole time going "Damn, this is so awesome...if only someone redid it so it was ACTUALLY believable"
