i havent played the map yet.. but i read on the info that only one objective needs to be done in order to win.. is there a way to fix this by editing a scr?? or something.. cause ive played ur previous map.. and i liked it alot.. but the 3 but only need one is why hartnugen isnt on our rotation

I'm not sure I understand what you mean at the end there. Why can't you host the map?

As for altering the objective targets, sure, you can do this easilly.

Un-zip the pk3 file named user-ydiss-objxfire.pk3 and find the file called objxfire.scr.

Open this file in notepad and alter this line:

level.targets_to_destroy = 1

Change 1 to 2, or 3. However many targets you want to have the Allies destroy. 3 is maximum.

To be honest, I'd rather you not do this as I designed it this way to balance the map. Most objective maps give the defending team the advantage, so I gave the Axis more targets to defend to even things out.

You are welcome to alter this setting, seeing as you asked nicely, but I'm still confused as to why you need to.

This is the bit that confuses me:

yeah.. hehe sorry i think i was typin then got a msg and the damn thing switched.. i hate that mwah:

i meant on objective maps that have 3 objectives but only need one objective completed to win...

the obj map Hartnugen is made the same way (2 objectives but only need 1 to win) thats why it was voted off rotation..

out of respect for you and your talents.. i will leave it be and put it on our server as is.. and see what people think before altering it in anyway (well of course have to change it to no respawn (if respawn is on).. hehe my clan hates respawn biggrin: )

i did a quick run thru to check it out and i like it.. good work man freak: couldnt find the 3rd objective tho (found the generator and radio)

for future references.. if other maps come out wit the same setup.. 3 objectives but only need 1 completed to win.. is this the way to alter them? or is it jus the way to alter yours?

Ah, I see.. case of preference. Well, it's up to you then. I don't see why you'd dislike my map purely due to this, but if it means the map will be played then sure, alter the scripts to your heart's content.

Personally, I think having to bomb all 3 would be bloody harsh on the Allies (Let's face it, they get a bum-deal on most Objective maps - I didn't want to make another Omaha).

What I wanted to avoid was creating another map where the Axis could just sit and camp one objective and ignore the others (Like in V2). There's no urgency for the defending team in this case and they don't treat each objective as priceless.

By making 3 objectives to defend and only one to bomb it should mean that the Axis need to keep on their toes and use much more thorough tactics to win.

If you have to change it, try 2 out of 3 objectives required to win. That is still pretty well balanced.

So long as they use the standard bomb the objective script that the stock maps use, yes. It's called 'bomb_thinker' so if you see that then you can be pretty sure that it uses the same variables.

Ok, foolishly I failed to actually test the scripting for my map before I released it and I missed a tiny error in them.

As such respawning is enabled in my objective maps!

I've created this fix for server admins. You don't need it unless you plan to run a server with my map.

This stops respawning and also increases the Allied targets in objxfire to 2 (instead of one). That is, Allies have to now bomb two targets.
