lol @ the alabama thing. Talking to Stewert is like trying to talk politics with a little kid. I love how he just makes jokes left and right just to piss Goldberg off happy:
Have you read America the book ? Hardly childish. Colemophobe. rolleyes:
I own it and have read it through several times. It is hilarious. You can not sit there and tell me that he didn't acti childish at any point in that interview with his jokes and stuff. I'm not saying he's stupid because of that; that's his gag...he's a comedian.[/quote:b2aeb]

Then don't call him childish b00n. if you read the book you never would have made such a comment. + I have never had a child make me laugh like he can....

That is fine because it's the Daily Show. I'm not criticizing him for that...it's his show. I was just saying he didn't act in a strictly pro. way as in an interview...let's say like Larry King oOo:

He mixes comedy with political genius. I see no child in that. I wish Larry King could do 1/100th the job Jon does really. rolleyes: If that is "childish to you".

Jokes also lighten the mood. I find this very easing during the interviews.

I'm not going to fight over this. You are just picking a fight just so you can say you're right when there really is nothing to argue about. I like Jon Stewert's comedy. He's a funny guy. end of story.

[quote:40863]For the record, I'm not saying the America Bashers hate America. Only they know what's inside of them. And I know that many of them will say that they're the real patriots, because they're the ones holding the country up to the highest standards; they're the ones criticizing America to make it better.

On the surface, it sounds good. But it's only when you listen closely that you discover what they really mean: They love some hypothetical, idealezed America--one that would redistribute weath and outlaw gas-guzzling SUVs and celebrate every aspect of "multiculturalism" and tolerate every kind of thought and behavior, except, of course, conservative thought and behavior. But they don't--God forbid!--love the America that we actually live in. Only a simpleton would love that America!

...None of this, if it needs to be said, is an argument against criticizing America when America is wrong. I'm all for that. The problem is that too many AMerica Bashers only criticize America.[/quote:40863]

...Totally agree....and also, Short Hand and Pyro are both troublemakers too. You only have to read this thread to see that. Short Hand turns an argument out of nothing, about something entirely trivial and pointless - The fact that he is actually wrong is what makes it amusing though. Stewart's style of interviewing, if it wasn't intended to make people laugh would be considered 'Childish.'

Mix the above quote with a troublemaking attitude and you have an example of a annoying little upstart, with no logical arguing agenda. There is no intention to seek any kind of conclusion or final point in these arguments he starts.

LOL, such pathetically transparent creatures.

I'm on page 74 right now and I really enjoy reading it. It had a pretty long introduction about his general concerns about society and our American culture (radical feminists, gangsta rap that talk only about sex/drugs/violence, a good amount of black people using the racist card to their advantage, the lack of self responsibility, censorship so no one's feelings get hurt, and some other good ones).

I'm on the 85th person (counts down from 100-->1) now and I have a good understanding of what he's trying to do with the list. He may not necessarily mean that these are the WORST people in America. He pretty much states the person, what they've done, and then he'll expand on that topic rather than why the person is such an idiot for example.

Also, it's not so much about picking only liberals for the list. Most of the time he doesn't even mention the word "liberal" when he criticizes their actions. It's not just politicians that are on the list. The list includes people that have sued over the dumbest reasonsn, the Hiltons (for obvious reasons), Michael Jackson, the radicals of the movements (feminist, NAACP, etc.). I believe the people on the list represent the issues that need to be brought up in his opinion.

There was a paragraph when he mentioned Jon Stewert's name. He said that he was a very intelligent man. And actually commented about in in a positive way.

No Jon Stewart does make certain logical arguments. His show is to emphasize the stupidity of the media, politics and culture that we are bombarded everyday and to show the double standards of people as well as the right and left wing. Thats his argument and his agenda. To show how simple minded ppl absorb everything they take in without filtering the information. Of course he does this using humour and witty remarks. Thats his trademark. Thats why so many people watch his show.

EDIT: That book sounds like your typical soccer mom argument. "Lets blame all our problems on these singers and movie actors etc" Yes culture can have an influential factor but it looks like the book fails to assess the other important factors and denies to confront the more realistic problem of America.

If Jon Stewart acted like that seriously and without humour, then people would think he was a complete jerk acting childishly. Noone is talking about his humour, but how he makes his points wouldn't stand up very strongly in a serious debate. I'm not criticising him at all, noone is. I think the guy is a genius.
