processor is fine for his needs, I ran cod, mohaa, firefox on my old pc using a XP2000+ (1.6ghz) - it will run fine using that processor.

I agree 512 is the minimum nowadays for a gaming PC. If all you using is a few games and normal everyday PC running, a 40gig hard drive is usually ok. If you run out of space later on just chuck in another 40 or 80 hard drive.

What's the video card? That's pretty much the most important part of your system when it comes to gaming.

Also you should put in 1gb of RAM. It's so cheap these days that it would be stupid not to.

Sempr0ns are okay... They get their asses handed to them by A64s though.

for his uses, RAM and video card will be crucial, 256 isnt enough, specially with some of the demands these new games have, 512 bare minimum. and a gig to be safe. Vid card, for what he's doing, id say 64 bare minimum, 128 for best bets and 256 for 90% of gaming applications

i have a 128 card which runs doom/hl2 on max settings. Its not necessarily what memory the card has. the 6600GT is only 128 but its a high end mid range card. He never mentioned playing any of the new games so unless he plans to buy new games in the future, he wont need to have a 266mb card or any of the higher mid range cards. I ran the games he mentioned fine on a Gforce 4mx440, obviously he should get a better card than that. But if you plan to only play these games he will only need a card costing under £100 - a 9700 should be more than adiquate for his needs.

i use a 2400+ athlonxp...with added things such as my nvidia gt6600 128 mb, 1 gb ddr ram...i can run hl2 full settings antialiasing antiscroptic...everything...

bundy, there's probably other games you will soon want to play like cod 2 or something so i recommend a better system. but if you're low on cash..
you can probably still run it by bumping of RAM to 1gb, getting a decent video card...but anyways...its all good just for the ram and stuff...but...40 gb hdd? aint that kinda small?
