My dads a total Bush-hater (kinda like all hippie parents - my dad goes on Bush rants in the car while listening to NPR) but says he thinks Colin is an awesome guy.

The way that the polital process in the US is set up makes it virtually impossible for any moderate (left-wing or right-wing) to get its party's nomination. That's why you see these candidates at opposite ends of the spectrum, either super liberal or super conservative, consistently.

I believe we'll never see good moderates like John McCain or Colin Powell get nominated to run.

I'm sorry, but I've never seen an ''uber liberal'' running for any office. The democrars arn't liberals, their just spineless, poll-watching, cowards who run to the middle when the election cycle comes around and don't even have a goal for the future.

You must have been born this summer then if you've never seen any uber-liberals run. McGovern, Dukakis, Mondale, and Dean--if you wanted to include Dean--weren't exactly moderate candidates.

It doesn't matter if they are movers and shakers, you said you've never seen an 'ultra-liberal' candidate run.

They arn't Liberals. Dean may have said some things awhile back about the Republicans being all white and chistian but for the most part they are silent, and being a Liberal doesn't include being silent. It also doesn't include being scared to call yourself a LIBERAL.

The Democrats are so far from being ultra-liberal it's a joke to even use to the two in the same sentence let alone suggest that there acually are ultra-liberals in government offices.

You do realise for along time he held a Pro-Life stance, and voted for No Child Left Behind, he also supported the Patriot Act. He doesn't sound like much of an ultra-liberal.

Democrats like that are very much ultra-liberal. I didn't say that Democrats as a whole are ultra-liberal.
