i usually cant sleep on my own and have to take something ... be it tylenol pm or a perscription sleep aid. i dont think i have insomnia, since i can sleep. i just cant fall asleep on my own.

... its either take something or stay up all fuking night long every day and get 0 sleep. so, ill take something. thats a lot like saying, dont take your heart medication because your body should naturally be able to work it out on its own. or any medication for that matter.
Well I can't really relate, since I don't have your problem. I'm sure it would be horrible to have, but I don't endorse the fact that it seems for every ailment, there is a pill to cure it. The stats of people on pills are enormous. Instead of prevention or alternative ways, doctors are quick to recommend pills for problems. 1/3 people have depression. That's staggering. What do doctors do? Write a prescription for drugs.
I know your situation is different, the things you take are probably not prescription.
It may just be me though. I don't even like taking asprin for headaches.
i say if it works, and is reasonably safe, more power. if you have a problem that can be correctly chemically, and its the quickest and easiest way, by all means do it.
