You're on the right track, WCP Dad. Use the Thompson first to get used to moving around in the environment and to get used to the game controls. The full auto will help you get some "spray and pray" kills.

From there, I would move on to the M1 or the BAR, not the Springfield. The BAR will give you the accuracy you'll want and a pretty good rate of full auto fire. It's pretty heavy, though, so you'll move a lot slower.

The semi-auto action of the M1 makes the learning curve a little less steep than the sniper rifle but it's harder to get used to than the full auto weapons. The M1 has great long range accuracy and good medium/short range stopping power (and it sound cool...heh *PING*). Plus, you'll never hear any idiots complaining that you're using an M1.

Sniping is an artform when one wants to be good at it. It takes great skill and patience. Don't mind what naysayers might say about it being a "no skill" weapon. I've been playing MOH:AA since day 3 and I still can't snipe for shite. Mind you, I don't practice sniping all that much. If you want to snipe, practice like a crazy mofo to get good.

Hope this has been helpful. Good luck.
