Default Rifle firing speed mod help needed. - 10-17-2005, 01:11 PM

Wondering if anyone can help me to make a mod for rifle firing speed in multiplayer mohaa? I want to change the speed so allied and axis rifles load and fire at the same rates. This would include the sniper rifles too. I understand making such a mod may be fairly simple by opening file and simply changing values. If so, what am I looking for and how do I open files? Do I use Wordpad? Thanks.

You realize that you would have to run your own server for such a mod to work, don't you? It would be server side. BTW you are on the right track.

Yes, I do realize that. I'm actually wanting to mod this for a clan I am in. So, can you walk me through it? It would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I'd use Notepad® to open the tik files for the rifles and compare them. I don't remember what the exact values are called, but if you look through them you'll find them. Save the files and pak them back up and viola.

You will feel a lot better about it if you work to achive your goal instead of having it handed to you.

open the .tik files for each weapon you wish to alter and find the below section (each weapon's .tik can vary a little but the key/values will have the same names)

ie. kar98 sniper (this is for DM play)

[quote:c3e9e]

/ DM Attributes
dmbulletcount 1
dmstartammo 50
dmammorequired 1
// dmfiredelay 1.25
dmfiredelay 2.0 // this makes it match the springfield <--change to a lower value for faster firing speed/reload speed

dmbulletrange 4000
// dmbulletdamage 120 //original 100
dmbulletdamage 106 //original 100
dmbulletspread 59 59 150 150
dmzoomspreadmult 0.055

// dmmovementspeed 0.77
dmmovementspeed 0.8

dmcrosshair 1

// this is attached to the player during reload
cache models/ammo/springfield_clip_reload.tik

[/quote:c3e9e]

some of the .tik files will have two entries for the key. don't worry about changing the key/value for those lines starting with //

also, i have found altering the reload speed/firing speed of the kar rifles to screw up the ingame firing , i think it has something to do with the animations. then again, i use the city nights modern weapons.

JohnJ, thanks and I agree that it can be very satisfying to figure things out on my own. Last night I did just that. I got into the Pak6 files and found what I was looking for. I haven't tried altering things yet but hope I find time this weekend to do so.

PKM, thanks for the input. I wasn't sure what values to put on the rifles but I essentially am hoping to slow the M-1 down to the kar speed. I'll let you know when I get things working properly.

i'm with you on the 'reverse engineering' of mohaa files. try inputing the value of 2.0 on the m1's firedelay, this will make it match the kar98 sniper.

If you are looking to have a level playing field whith the rifles there is a way via scripting to give allies and axis the same weapons altho it may be a little advanced for you atm tho.

Scorpion, I'm hoping I'm all set with the advice from PKM and JohnJ. Thanks for your reply and input.
