Default Weapon skins won't let me rename them! - 08-28-2002, 12:52 PM

-Here is my problem. I can't figure out how to rename, a weapon. Like in the corner how it says Tompson, Shotgun... I want to change that to my gun's name.
-Here is my attempt. In the .tik were it says name then "Thompson". I changed that to my gun's name.
-Here are my results. There is no name it shows. It is just blank.

-Please help me.

[quote="Rabid Mantis":68ce0]-Where can I find a tutorial for that?[/quote:68ce0]

or you can play around with it, just make a copy of the localization.txt before you mess around so that you can reverse any screw ups.

in the localization.txt (located in your global folder right?) you'll see something like this:

"is preparing for deployment" "is preparing for deployment"

now the first phrase is the original and the second phrase can be changed to whatever you like and will replace the original phrase in game. so if you want to change it it'll look something like this:

'is preparing for deployment" "is ready to kick ass"

the point is, somewhere in the file you'll find the weapon phrases like:

"Panzershrek" "Panzershrek" and you can then make them
"Panzershrek" "Noob boomer" or whatever.

this is justa rough description, you might have a better idea if you find a tutorial (check in guides section) otherwise just play around, BUT BACK UP YOUR ORIGINAL LOCALIZATION.TXT FIRST!!

-I am not talking about the text like when you kill someone. I am talking in the lower right hand corner. Where it says the weapon's name. Next to your ammo, and ammo amount thing.
-I want to know how to change that.
