Default Cheating supported by AA.com? - 08-29-2002, 09:05 AM

Why would AA.com host files that the community considers a cheat. Transparent weapons so theres no blocked portions of the screen. Nades that take no effort to spot. Frankly i dont think these should be up, they just add to the problem. What do you guys think? Im sure theres more but i didnt really start hunting for these i was looking for some good skins and bumped into these.

i dont really have a problem with transparent weapons since you can just turn weapon views off, but the nades are kind of lame.

I prefer the axis grenade mod that looks like a budwieser and sounds like your popping the cap when you pull the pin.

I agree. They should keep it as real as possible. With that being said, the Thompson is not as powerful in the game as it should be. that SOB put out at least 600 rounds-per-minute, and spit out a 230 grain .45 ACP round with enough foot pounds to knock a fully grown man on his ass. It's effective range was 55 yards, but when I come around a corner in a map and unload on someone and they don't drop immediately, well I'm just not happy about it. Everything else about the game I enjoy, but I feel that this needs to be resolved. I'll get off my soapbox now.

Default Skins - cheat? - 08-29-2002, 12:39 PM

The weapons / nade skins are no advantage at all

The player skins... thats a major problem that will BE CURED
within the next 1-2 weeks (if not sooner)

DogMeat has written a new server sided mod that has the
ability (admin option) to Automatically change anyone who
selects a "non-standard" skin (like the bright colored skins)
back to a stock skin - this is awesome !

We can finally get rid of those who cheat by
using bright colored and neon skins

Players wont get booted, the server will just change
the skins for them automatically evil:

DogMeat has written a new server sidded mod that will kick
anyone who selects a skin other than the stock skins
and best yet......

Will Auto-Boot those who select "Force Models"

When this happens - you will see players scores go down
and the really skilled players will be evident as nobody
will be able to force the other side to have the
silly brightly colored skins - they are CHEATS

Oh man that will be great. Looking forward to it.

That SUCKS! I hope aa.com NEVER uses this mod. I use force models for the exact purpose it was intentioned...to improve my FPS.

To lump me into the category of cheaters and lameoids is totally irresponsible. I'd expect more from DogMeat since I believe his other mods and map fixes are brilliant.

Rudedog, PLEASE, never put that Force Model boot mod on your server. I'm BEGGING you.

I think they are going to call it the "camper's special mod". I hate having to decide "friend of foe" in a heartbeat with force models off. I like the idea of being able to tell the teams apart by the color of the uniform. Yeah, I know the avatars help, but that takes half a second longer, and that is too much time, especially in realism. This is a team sport (TDM) and teams should be dressed the same.

Whatever, they are your servers. Thankfully, I have a dedicated server to call home that will NOT be running this sillyness. Just one more way for a small group to tell others how to play the game. I think the only thing keeping this game from being completely bastardized is that EA hasnt released the SDK.

Well I'll agree that I use force models and don't see a problem with that. But it would be nice to know that I'm not playing against someone that is painting me and my team with a neon skin.

I'm glad to see that some people are on my side here.

I use the Canadian D-Day skin for the Allies and the black SS skin for the Axis (Don't recall the name, but it's one of the stock ones).

That cheating? Of course not.

As for someone else seeing me as a neon green dude or Ronald McDonald, I really don't care. All I know, is that I see Canadians vs. Germans. When you're as bad at this game as I am, being easier to see is of no consequence...heh heh.
