it has WAY better music. It has hundreds of channels to meet everyone's music tastes. It's real handy to have too when you want to listen to a game. I know there are some channels that you can listen to TV shows over (like abc or something)

^^ what he said. Plus, good comedy channels, good talk channels (again, they have talk for everybody, left, right, center - I like the NRA shows)
Channels I listen to on a regular basis:
Elvis Radio (all Elvis all the time - if Elvis didn't sing it, they don't play it)
Rolling Stones Channel (Same as above but all Stones)
Classic Rock
Classic Vinyl
60's Channel
70's Channel
80's Channel
Some channel that I can't remember the name of that plays new rock
Some channel - I think it is called Garage or something - that plays cool bands that I never heard of (y'all probably have) - kinda underground garage band stuff
BBC Channel - for BBC news
Some channel that plays new British bands - kinda weird stuff but I like to check it out every now and then
RadioMargaritaville - Buffett music mixed with bands that he likes - some Marley, Beach Boys, Eagles, etc - a strange but cool mix of music
Classic Radio - old 30's and 40's radio shows like Gunsmoke, The Shadow, Green Hornet, Have Gun Will Travel - great for killing time and keeping me awake on long drives
Outlaw Country channel
Bluegrass Channel
Those are the main ones, but I have 30 presets. you can also mark a song that you like and it will pop up an alert if it is playing on any channel on the satellite and ask if you want to switch to it. Pretty cool feature.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. My brother has a Sanyo (Sirius) portable reciever. It can be used almost anywhere, as long as you can get a clear view of the sky with the antenna. And it can broadcast over FM so any radio in a reasonable distance can share it. My favorite channel is Octane 20. All modern rock all the time and no commercials. And Raw Dog comedy is pretty cool too. Totally uncensored stand up comedy. We listen to it at work and it makes time go by much faster. It's worth the cost.

Radio is a complete joke.
Its good that you're trying to find proper radio stations that play more varied and unheard of music rather than listening to evil greedy commercial radio stations that have more adverts than music.
I'm waiting until all in-car and in-house radio players can recieve internet/digital stations so we have all the choice in the world. Then all of the lazy and greedy stations will go out of business.
Nice one!

CBC has some quality radio stations... CBC Radio 2 is great, during the day they play everything from classical to jazz to hip hop. And at night they play some of the wierdest shit you can imagine. All commercial free.

Ottawa's radio stations are complete garbage, as I'm sure they are in most medium-large cities.
The NEW Hot 89.9 (top 40, dance, hip hop): Now playing "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"
106.9 The BEAR (New rock): Now playing "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"
CHEZ 106 (Classic Rock): Now playing "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"
93.9 BOB FM (80s, 90s, whatever): Now playing "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"
KISS FM 103.5 (Soft rock, top 40): Now playing "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"

The radio stations here arent bad at all. Sure we got the regular shit most cities do but we have an excellent classic rock station (Q107, plays all kinds of classic rock, not just zeppelin and floyd) and an awesome college station that plays anything you could ever imagine.
You can listen to a stream of CJSW on their site.. pretty high quality too .. http://www.cjsw.com/
