I have to agree with von. get ASE much better then GS, you still have to register it for the full version but the unregistered version does not have those adds that everyone hates.

What's the opinion on registering ASE? Is it worth all the cool features? I can't remember what they were because I didn't know what I was doing in the 3 week trial period, lol.

Like I've stated numerous times, I'm probably the only one of the forums who paid for GS, heh

Anyways, I don't find it that bad, but if you don't register it, then yes get ASE.

Registering gives you the ability to see scores in a server before you join and it allows you to maintain a buddy list and buddy tracking. I also get a message in my unregistered ASE a lot that says I get the crappy server scan because it is too busy helping paying members. I can deal with that though, I really only look at the dozen or so servers in my favorites anyway.

Sadly, they removed score tracking to compensate for allowing private client support, so you'll never know what the scores are from ASE (Like this matters).

As for buddies.. well you're right except you can use the buddy tracker in unregistered ASE, it just limits you to 4 buddies.

I've paid for my registration for two reasons: I got a huge buddy list and I think the creators of this fine piece of software deserve my money (it's not that much, is it?).

I'd gladly pay for something so well designed.

There are a few other reasons for registering (technical support priority, detailed filtering) but at the end of the day I gave my money out of gratitude, mostly.

But, if you are happy with only 4 buddies and are strapped for cash then you may as well stick with the un-registered version.

I agree. For MOH I've only ever used the in-game browser as it limits what's running while your playing and is quicker in the load/unload. I was incredibly irritated with America's Army when it first came out because of the lack of this feature. Thank God they fixed that.
