I just dont understand why these people are there. I hope they know if you get captured you are as good as dead. I dont want troops to put themselves in danger to save the likes of her. it may be cold to say it but its the truth

they know the US will NOT deal with terrorists so when they slice thier heads off it is supposed to make us look bad.
I know if I were to put myself in that position that I would never see my family again and I would not blame the US Id blame myself

She wont be killed.
If she is though - I feel incredibly sad for her family, but these people know the risks, and with the Journalist having won his lawsuit against TIME (I think it was) - no journalist can be compelled to report from a high danger zone like IRAQ.

So if soldiers die, its their fault for joining the millitary and for being there.

Soldiers have a reasonable expectation that they will see violence, and there is a HIGHER probablity of being killed on the job than say - a freaking journalist.
Plus, they have no CHOICE (beyond signing up for the military). This woman had a choice. That she a) didnt do her homework to know where she was going or b) was misinformed by her superiors about the dangers of her assignment are irrelevant. She could have chosen NOT to go.

still, she went to help. whether she was forced or not, she went to help where help was needed. maybe that says more for someone who doesnt have to go but decides to go anyways.

how did she try to help? She is where she shouldnt be. Id bet the military would have not allowed her to that neighborhood if they knew of her intentions. The paper she works for is suspect to me too. I dont like people going from country to country pushing thier religous beliefs onto others. I know it didnt say she was a missionary but Id be willing to bet

reporting in Iraq isnt the safest place to work, multiple journalists killed, kidnapped and what not, she would of known slight risks to going to Iraq, but as TGB said i hope she might not be killed, as remember the situation with the Italian female journalist that was let go.

There has been more journalists killed in Iraq than the entire duration of the Vietnam War.

Makes sense with the massively increased media coverage nowadays and the insurgents disregard for westerners lives...
