Default CSG SUBTRACT AND NOW MOH RADIENT JUST STOPPED WORKING! - 08-31-2002, 08:10 PM

I have been editing a new map for a week now called Ski_Resort and all of sudden CSG subtract makes MOH Radient close and send an error report to Microsoft. I have tried CSG subtract on other maps and I am getting the same result. I reinstalled b/c all of a sudden the program wouldn't even load. It just says, "Program Not Responding," and asks you to end the program now. Help, please!

Thanks,
Spe

uh.... didnt really understand you.
if you cant load your map reinstall the editor.
if you can load your map but it gived errors on save get rid of the csg stuff
if you cant load your map and have reinstalled the editor go back and load the previous version you saved to a different map file
if none of this works read the tutorials on not using csg and saving multiple versions of your map.

youve either got a stuffed install which will be fixed by a reinstall or a stuffed map file.

oh man.. your screwed
Never use CSG Subtract.
Never ever ever.
What i am trying to say is.
NEVER USE CSG SUBTRACT!!!
when you use it, its not only cutting the brush you want.. but cuts ALL BRUSHES in the map.
Sounds like you probablly exceed the amount of brushes used. and too much for the program to see to open.

Only hope for you is ethier
1. send the .map file to another user. see if he gets same error.
2. If you use winXP, use system restore, and go back 1 day
3. Start all over. But this time. DONT USE CSG SUBTRACT

I would recommend starting over. The damage is done.

if any of the brushes you are csg'ng touch terrain anywhere MOHradiant will crash. Now with that said you do have options...

first off i wouldnt use csg to make an 'opening'. Try using the clipper tool. May be intimidating at first but is quite useful.

secondly if you insist on using csg... then highlight all your terrain and save it to a prefab. Once saved highlight it again and delete it from the map. Dont worry you have it saved as a prefab. Now that the terrain is gone go ahead and do all the csg you like. When completed just load the prefab of your terrain and it will come back in the same place it was when you saved it.

good luck

Well if I was to make a roof, the only thing I would suggest using is HOLLOW.
The roof will need alittle correcting after, keep what you need, and delete the brushes you dont, but it does work very nicely.

G3mInI is correct. Really if you must use CSG. Its best to make is seperatly from your map. Then transfer it back.

I for one. Never use CSG. I use CLIPPER for all my cuts.

If you have snapshoots turned on (it is by default) you should be able to find a copy of your map prior to using csg subtract.
