Default Connecting Computers, need info. - 09-01-2002, 10:11 PM

Here's the plan.

I have a laptop, with a D-Link PCMCIA network adapter.
I have a PC with a network card.

Can I get some cable and plug one into the other and have them talk, or do I need a hub and spend more money?

I know Jacques Schitt about networking.

You may need a hub, but try some CAT5 cable to being with, 1 metre long should be enough and see what the result is. Make sure both network adapters are installed and ready to go.

Ok, do I need red or blue cable? Isn't red bi-directional or something?

Blue will do the trick. It should do anyway, make sure you buy the stuff, if you havent already, from a shop that you can return the product too.
