ugh. Trek needs a break. They keep trying to make it "new and cool" to attract new viewers by writing inrisky scenes and crap. If they just did the show to appeal to pre existing trek fans they would be able to enjoy their already huge fanbase and not piss everyone off.

Haha. I have to disagree. Let them try again. Enterprise wasn't that bad. I've been a Trek fan all of my life, and this is the first time since The Next Generation began that there haven't been new episodes of a series being made.

enterprise only got good in the last season but it was too late because by that point they had managed to offend pretty much every trek fan out there so the ratings were near overnight paid programming. I will agree that it was getting very good tho, I came back to watch the final season and was very impressed aside from the final episode which was godawfull. Still compared to shows like lost, 24 or BSG it was like a 50's sitcom in comparision. Lets take a little time out and try it again in 5 years.

That's not a bad idea.

You have to wonder...do they even bother to pitch these series to actual Trek fans?

they seem to think anyone who ever liked trek will dig the shit they pump out no matter what so they try to make it "new and cool" when they just need to focus on the millions of pre existing fans. annoy:

Greatest Star Trek Series was Deep Space Nine. Just excellent story, acting and production values. Next Generation was also good.

As for TNG: During the summer I watched season 1-7 and it was one awsome season. You really get into a show when you watch it like that. I was near tears during the final episode.

Ya, I was a pretty big fan of DS9. When I was a kid, I was a massive Star Trek fan.....Not a "Trekky".. Just a kid who enjoyed watching them. DS9 though seemed to have the best acting of all the series, not to mention the last 2 season blew me away with the whole "Dominion War" concept.

What made DS9 so great was that the characters were darker and more complicated than in any other series. In TNG everything was always happy and light. In DS9, they faced real internal struggles. (Not to mention the awesome Dominion).
