That's what he was told by Kelvin, but Kelvin could have been lying. Or maybe Kelvin didn't even exist and Desmond is the one lying. Maybe missing a button press caused
something to happen/not happen, and that something brought the plane down by accident. Or maybe the button does feck all and it's a skinner box style mind-fuck. wallbash:
