Once the church starts fessing up to all the times its f-cked up in history, then maybe ill actually listen to what they have to say. till then.
Examples of so called facts plz.

I mean maybe it's because I'm a atheist that the claims are outrageous, to me. 60 minutes ran a piece 2 weeks ago and they proved one of the da vinci codes theory, wrong. It was about that church in france or where ever and the preist suddenly got a shitload of money. Turns out the guy who created the story had mental problems. I forget the rest of the story but it was pretty much debunked. Like I said maybe it's just because I'm a atheist. All these conspiracy theories on religion that are coming out are pretty laughable. We all want to believe that jesus has a blood line because people like hearing that stuff.

I haven't read the novel, but I know that at the core is the notion that Mary Magdalene had children with Jesus. There is no evidence to suggest that and people have debunked it many times over.

And Machette, you're exactly right, people want to believe this stuff so badly, and that's part of why this is such a big deal.

Honestly, you should. If anything, its a good read. Doesn't mean you have to take it seriously. I'm a taoist, I still read books on religion, etc. True there is little to no evidence, most of what Brown has is speculation. But he makes interesting points. And a lot of it doesn't even have to do with Mary, I mean thats the main idea behind the book but Brown fills it up with so many other facts/ideas too.

And if anything, its the fact that people don't want to believe it, so badly. I mean seriously. Think about it. Priests aren't allowed to marry/engage in sexual intercourse, but the human incarnate of god himself is? If it were proven true, it could shatter people's belief in the teachings of their religion.
Which is why, people don't liek to think about it.

No, but the thing on the other side is that a lot of the readers are atheists thinking it will disprove Christianity, those are the people who want it to be true, and those are the people who are taking it as fact. (a lot of them at least)

ANd yes, I did hear it is a very good book.

Guess I'm the only one who didn't like it. Dull characters..bad dialogue. And I don't mind thrillers. The stuff by frederick forsyth is great - the jackal, odessa files.
