Default deadliest war - 06-03-2006, 11:08 PM

Did anyone read the article in Times about this?

I had no idea that since 1998 over 4 million people have been killed in the Congo. By conventional measures they are done with the fighting, but the rebels and Congolese army have both gone around murdering and devastating villages. With the number of people dead, its the deadliest war since WWII. 1250 Congolese die everyday.

African civil wars seem to be hard to deal with, cant really leave it to the UN (Rwanda).

Not just the United Nation's failure, but the world's. Every country turned their back. France actually did something which was to support the hutus in the killings and tried blaming the civil war on the tutsi's. oOo:

But yes Africa in general is the worst tragedy as a whole.

Europeans drew up different tribes together and when de-colonization occurred a power struggle ensued, this has lead to the constant coups and genocides. Tribalism is artifical and can be stopped but it may take a long time for Africans to realize that.
