ninty is Offline Major General Posts: 12,683 Join Date: Jan 2002 Location: Calgary	07-04-2006, 01:24 PM when the shuttle is in earth orbit it will be traveling at 17,000miles/hour. that's only 4.7 miles per second whle the speed of light is around 186,000 miles/second, contrary to CNN stating that the space shuttle travels at 18X the spped of light. 4.7 miles/sec seems fast, but on an interstellar scale, this is painfully slow.
