the voice commands are a lot better than MOHAA, when you ask for anti-armor support, a medic, or someone to give you a lift the map on the others' screens displays your request and stuff.

BF1942 is just a really kickarse game, and we've only seen the demo so far. Also I think the demos are Beta, I'm sure the SP is anyways.
Best WW2 game out there, kicks MOHAA.
I wouldn't say it's too arcadish, all the infantry weapons are pretty realistic, sniper rifles take two hits to kill so sniping is that much harder.
Clan matches on this will absolutely own but I'm guessing that ordinary internet games with HAVE to have FF turned off.
So many possibilities in this game and all some people can do is stand around and bitch.

Here's my opinion on WWII games:
BF1942 is lots of fun, the vehicles and large maps just add to the fun, and there is quite a bit of authenticity in the vehicles etc. but it is very deathmatchy. The same 11 year old kids from MOHAA decided to come over to BF1942 and shoot me down when I'm taking off because I got the plane first.
It gets annoying when everybody is just running every-which-way trying to grab vehicles and cannons shooting people from every direction. It is also very hard to hit people with most guns. The net code is very poor. Just TRY to hit someone with a rifle while they're running. I've actually sat in a hiding place and tried to pick someone off with a rifle while I was prone, and I still havent done it. Its also very choppy and inaccurate with assault weapons. Unfortunately it turned into an all out strafe-shoot-fest like mohaa.
MOHAA is basically BF without vehicles, so it = worse. Although in most ways MOHAA is better visually.
Now for realism. DoD is just better by far. It pays such close attention to WWII authenticity. The guns have way better recoil, making more realistic gun-fights, cancelling out strafing or any of that. If you want to experience more of a WWII battle-feel, then DOD is the best. You have to take cover, stay low and work together. Unfortunately it may not be visually appealing to some kids....the gameplay makes up for it though.
i guess this is just my opinion tho

The Jeep ramming is what I don't like. Sure, it may work, but it's the stupidest fucking 'tactic' I have ever seen.

Heres a Panzer

PzKfW Mk.IV Panzer
The Panzer Mk. IV was a devastating force throughout World War II for the German Army. Armed with a 75-mm main gun, the Panzer provided the Germans with a powerful and mobile weapon. If the Panzer Mk. IV had one drawback it was its lack of speed for a light tank. Between 1940 and 1945, Germany produced over 8,000 of these tanks.
There theres a Panzer!
And heres a Tiger

PzKfW Mk.VI Tiger
The German “Tiger” tank was heavily armored and packed a powerful punch. Initially designed in response to the success of the Russian T-34, the first Tiger tanks to come off the production lines were not very reliable. However, over time German engineers fine-tuned these battle machines, and the Tiger tank would become one of the most feared tanks in WWII.
And heres the B-17 every one thoght they wouldnt put in

B-17 Flying Fortress
The B-17 helped turn the tide of the war by delivering heavy blows to the Third Reich. Though maneuverable for a large aircraft, America’s standard heavy bomber was still an inviting target for fast German fighters like the Messerschmitt. The B-17 bomber was utilized effectively as a scout plane in the Pacific, assisting the U.S. Navy in the battle against the Japanese fleet.
And for no reason.

Why was this in the U.S.A section???
HMS Prince of Wales
The HMS Prince of Wales engaged Germany’s battleship Bismarck in one of the crucial turning points of WWII. Though seriously damaged, the Prince of Wales sunk the Bismarck in what is now regarded as one of the great naval victories of the war. Two days after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Japanese aircraft attacked and destroyed the Prince of Wales.

WTF Where are the gun turrets in the back???
LCVP Higgins Boat
Designed to transport fully armed troops and the material necessary for amphibious assault, these boats were the perfect vehicles for landing thousands of troops in a relatively short timeframe. In addition, by using the “Higgins Boats” to establish beachheads, Allied forces didn’t have to rely on securing ports, which were, in most cases, more heavily defended.

that data is incorrect, it makes you think that PzIV's nickname is "panzer" like the PZ-VI is "Tiger" Pz-V is "Panther" etc.
the Pz-I through Pz-IV did not have nicknames, they were called by their numeric designations. (maybe crews had nicknames but no official name was assigned)
Ah but they were called panzers becuase panzer is tank in german biggrin:[/quote:9977a]
any German tank is a Panzer, but a Panzer is not a type of German tank.
Like an F-4U Corsair is a fighter but if you were a squadron commander asking for replacements you would say "I need 3 F-4Us" or "I need 3 Corsairs" not "I need 3 fighters", your Marines might get stuck with brewster Buffaloes!
Panzer is a generic term for any tank (in the German language), however if you spotted a tank you would try to be more specific.
(because while both a T-40 tankette and a JS-2 are both tanks, the Germans would hurt a lot more if they encountered a JS-2)
Any of this making sense to any of you???
