Some breeds of cat are like that. Some breeds of cat you can actually train to do simple commands like a dog, sit, stay, retrieve etc - I've read about plenty of cats that you can walk, and that love to play fetch!
Burmese are known for their dog-like playful and loyal tendencies, they develop strong bonds with their owners.
My cat Casper (r.i.p) would sprint towards me and jump into my arms when I'd be coming home and he'd see me walking down our driveway...Burmese cats are the fucking shit.
My family miss the company so much that we're getting a brother and sister pair of burmese cats soon.

I used to be a dog person, until I owned a pure breed cat. Theres so many interesting breeds that I never even considered when I thought about the nature of cats.
I still like dogs though, but I prefer the company of a friendly cat.
