Not to impractical, if it keeps your head cool with fans and or warm with fans, and also protects your face from shrapnel. Just needs to be fitted better.

it is also suposed ot have a HUD. The body armor is a liquid, and has an exoskeleton so that troops can carry more without hurting themselves.

As much as you US-types like to mock them, the Canadian Forces is making some fucking cool advancements in equipment. They just announced a few weeks ago that they have developed a uniform that repels poisonous gas, but is no more bulky than a regular uniform.
Pretty fucking leet stuff so STFU.

Developing them doesn't mean theyre gonna hand them out to everyone though. The 8-9 billion that the us army wasted on the commanche coulda been used to develop and deploy soemthing similar....with plenty of change to spare

They are developing something similar gerv. Just like the F22 raptor which is now the Joint Strike Fighter. Or JSF if you will.
A Marine Corps variant of the JSF wil be verticle take off capable liek the Harrier which will be replaced by it.

Yeah, I don't think every soldier in the field would be getting those gas suits. It'd be the troops in areas of high risk of poison gas attacks. Could be used in rescue ops too where there may be toxins in the air.
By the way, I saw the new commercials for the Canadian Armed Forces last night. Man, they are highly effective. I'll see if they're on YouTube or anything. Very well done. Not the usual "rah rah...serve your country" type stuff.
