Rolling Stone: Dane Cook Sucks Dick -

"Taylor Dayne. Cookie Monster. The Great Dane next door. Cooke City, Montana. A prune Danish. The Bugs Bunny cartoon that goes, "Cook! Where's my hasenpfeffer?" This is just a partial list of things that are funnier than Dane Cook, but let's stop here or we could go on all day, like one of Dane's monologues. Yeah, we get it: the world's hottest comedian, a success story, the MySpace generation, blah to the blah, but where are the fucking jokes? Dane, did you bring any jokes at all? Or did you just figure you'd think of some after you got famous? "
pretty good commentary of the effect of the "myspace" generation
"hey lets tell really inarticulate jokes and extremely trite and obvious observations and just yell them out and act them out like a clown and maybe I can coerce some laughs from a dumbed down crowd of frat boys drunk off their ass."
ps. brian regan blows him out of the water

I saw Dane Cook in 1999. I thought he was hysterical. I still do.

I find that comment both rude and offensive. annoy:
But I agree that dane cook is not funny... I find that its mostly girls who think he is hilarious... and its a proven fact that chicks have terrible senses of humor, I mean, can you name even two girls you know who you would say are funny?
Mitch Hedberg is where its at.

Well, I'm not saying you suck if you don't find Dane Cook funny. I personally do and have for a while now.
I don't care for Robin Williams's stand-up. A lot of people do, but i find him 100% irritating.
Different strokes for different fuckers.

i found his earlier stuff funny, but his new stuff is horrible. its true, all the stupid frat boys love him now. a lot of his jokes now are to act like an idiot on stage or move in ways for girls to check him out i.e. the itchy asshole skit (not funny at all).
I agree with Nyck, Brian Regan is hilarious.

Stupid shitty-gift-giving sister in law... rolleyes:
Why the fuck she thought I would want a "You Might Be a Redneck If..." desk calendar, I'll never know.
Jeff Foxworthy can go get his head bit off by a rabid beaver.
Denis Leary, John Pinette, Mike Birbiglia, Drew Hastings, Dane Cook, Greg Warren, Augie Smith...those are the dudes bringing Zone teh funneh.

Hedberg is about as hit and miss as Dane Cook is, its just Cook is more popular than Hedberg (which isnt likely to change since one is dead and the other isnt). Cook does have some funny bits.
I liken Cook to that jock who also just happened to be the class clown, making wildly inappropiate jokes, but still being able to get a laugh because of who he is. A lot of stuff doesnt stick, but the stuff that does is great.
As Zoner pointed out, Cook has been around far longer than this "MySpace Generation" crap. . .theyre just the ones pimping his shit now.
