I WILL NOT be celebrating or remembering one-year-of-remembering-9/11. Sorry. Wont. This entire year has been nothing more than one long commercialization of something that should be mourned by those who suffered it, and remembered by those who care. In 5 years this day will be a national holiday. In 10 they'll be selling commemerative plates. And all of you are just going to eat it up and say..."BY GOD I LOVE AMERICA!!!". It's fucking ridiculous, and stupid that you let TV and popular opinion dictate how you see things.

Was the terrorist attacks fucked up? Yup. But as MORE THAN ENOUGH people have pointed out, it's not the greatest tragedy in the world, and there are worse things happening now. For Americans this sucks balls (although more died in Vietnam but hey whos counting), but for you other folks - I dunno. Get off it. Stop trying to tell folks what they SHOULD feel about this tragedy, stop taking every CRITICISM on 9/11 seriously, and get the fuck out of your small world.

I'm not disputing this because it's the truth, but some of the people here have been nothing but heartless pricks about it and not worrying about other peoples feelings toward this matter, thats what I was pointing out.

Eat it up ?? I got better things to eat up, like a nice meat pie and steak sauce on Australia Day. I will wave my own countries flag and and say "By God I love Australia". It's not "fucking ridiculous, and stupid" to be patriotic, or be emotional about subjects like 9/11, if people want to be that way, FUCKING LET THEM !! There were Australians in that building aswell, it's not just America mourning/remembering.

Yeah, well, take your own advice. What I dont get is why people would criticise the death of 3000 civilians at all. I mean...why ? Mocking the tragedy as some have is disgusting, and shows a total lack of respect for those that died. Why is my world small ?? Because I choose to remember and get pissed off when people make a mockery of that terrible tragedy ?

My patriotism is not misplaced, nor manufactured. I have been a patriotic person since way before 9/11 and will be until the day I die. And I agree commercializing 9/11 is disgusting I'm not going to buy plates and t-shirts about it because the people that produce them do it for money.

When threads degrade into bullshit and flames is when I close them, or when I feel the topic just isnt appropriate or its content is another time when I will close them. Whenever you post up a thread, those 2 conditions are always present. THATS why almost all your threads are closed.

Its about respect Ed. Sure 9/11 isnt the worst thing to happen in the world. Pol Pot killed how many people in his reign? Many, many times more than the 9/11 attacks. The thing is, people cant be sympathitic to everything around them or we would never be out of mourning nd couldnt lead normal lifes. The 9/11 attacks are personal to the US, as well as a large number of non-americans. So thats what we focus on and why we take offense at nimrods that belittle the whole thing. Now out of respect, we dont go tell cambodian peasants that the victims of Pol Pot mean nothing, we dont tell them that this kind of thing happens all the time. Why? Because that would be disrespectful, insensitive, immature and just plain pointless.

If you truly dont care, why are you in the middle of every thread about it? Are you lying or just plain fucking dumb? The topics are pretty self explanitory. If you dont want to participate in any additional ceremonies, we would never dream of forcing you, but negative participation is still participation.

BTW - I have always thought that the moderators here were rather leniant in what they allow. If you have a problem with a mod here, most likely you are the problem. Keep up the good work Mods.
