BF1942 - Quick slowdown fix for XP -
09-25-2002, 10:41 AM
Well, I'm sure most of you already know this, so don't go about yelling at me that you already did, obviosly, it's for the people who didn't!
If you have Windows XP, and are expirencing an issue with and ONLY with BF1942 whereas the game slows down constantly, espically when in a large area of AI/MP players, this may be due to you having the Windows XP Service Pack 1. I found my demo of BF1942 running as smooth as ever. Once I got the retail version, I wondered what went wrong. Then, I discovered it was the SP1 after all.
My suggestion to you all is to uninstall it, reboot, and get the hotfixes. After uninstallation of the SP1, XP will return any hotfixes you had before the installation of the pack. Then, run BF1942, and see if it fixes your slowdown. Hopefully, EA or Microsoft will release a hotfix to fix this issue, or re-release the SP1 as SP1a.

Like I said, if you have the hotfixes, and a virus scanner/firewall, you have nothing to worry about.

I don't really want to uninstall service packs... hake: It runs pretty good now. I don't really understand, when I change refresh rates, the font changes in the game...really weird. I'm surprised it's running so fast on my Gf2. biggrin:

I have also seen him on some of the more popular BF42 boards. Was wondering if it was you Joe.
