I just dont agree with the actions the police officer took. There has to be NO crime in that town for the police officer to react the way he did. The kids were skateboarding...sure, it was against the law, but it was only skateboarding. If the officer mased the kids, I would be fucking shocked.

Yeah, there's no reason for any cop to take his job so personal. Most cops I know would say that they never take any call personally. They do their job, and if a situation arises where they have to intervene, they do it in a tactical manner to protect themselves from harm. I think most good cops would tell you that putting anybody in a choke hold, especially two people at once like that, doesn't provide the officer with any safety. It would be pretty easy for the suspect to stab the officer in the side in that position.

As for this particular situation, I don't agree with the ordinance to prohibit skateboarding. Then again, I don't live in the area, and unless any of us do, we can't make a precise judgment on whether the ordinance is good or not. I'm presuming those kids refused to leave the area after the officer told them the area was restricted to skateboarding. If they refused to leave, then technically under law they can be given a citation, it's just a matter of how strict the cop is in enforcing the law.

It would be like me getting a parking ticket on campus, then bitching to the cop and telling him I'm not going to move my car. Then when he calls to have it towed, I start bitching and whining about how I'm not doing anything wrong.

Upon second viewing there was ONE questionable situation, the girl. A situation that was elevated when the kids tried to INTERFERE with the man detaining the girl (which the cop has EVERY right to do - hell she had a skateboard in hand, what the fuck was he supposed to think) - the same fella who RAN from the cop.

sure, there are situations where force is needed, like if a drunk is being belligerent and threatening other people or some bullshit like that. these kids were sober (as far as anyone can tell) and only telling the cop to calm down and he puts them in headlocks. to me, thats complete bullshit.

the video is obviously not telling the entire story... especially when it starts off with the cop giving the kid a choke hold. You can't assume the cop just went ahead and choked the kid unprovoked, like the video leads you to believe.

That would be well and good, if it was the job of the person BREAKING THE LAW to tell the LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER what to do. It's not. He tells one to sit down, she starts to walk away and is THEN put in a headlock, and the one who had ALREADY fled, attempts to intervene - he is then put in a headlock, and now gets a charge of resisting arrest.

I would say the officer reacted the way he did when they started showing a lack of respect to the cop. They could have shut their mouthes, sat down and accepted their punishment - instead they tried to punk the cop, and instead got punked themselves. I have zero sympathy for little shits like that.

you would think differently if you were one of those kids and saw your friend getting manhandled by a cop, who to me seems like he is overly-energetic and unaware of his strength.

i understand that they were breaking the law and the video was definitely one sided, but i dont think anything a TEENAGER could say to the officer would make him so pissed off. the officer should have some more self control and if he really wants to get his authority across, he should use his words more effectively and not his fore-arm on someone's throat.

my friends got arrested after they hopped a fence to get into a skate park late at night. they were cuffed and taken to the station. all they had to do was write an essay discussing trespassing. if you ask me, trespassing is much worse than skateboarding in a public place.

Anti, i thought you were pretty intelligent and would be able to understand what i was saying. When you break the law and take your lumps like a man, it can be anything from a lecture, a ticket, or being arrested. It's not the end of the world if either of that happens, just don't act like a shitbag and think you're the one being picked on, like those fucktard kids. And yeah, i expect to get my ass kicked by my father if i disrespected a cop and got in the way of his duties. I thought every kid alive had the thought of pissing off their father in the back of their mind whilst out and about. That kinda helps keep your shit on the level, if you know what i mean.

Yeah, i did some retarded things as a kid and even had to deal with the police on occassion. I never disrespected them so i never got my ass kicked from them. If dad didn't find out, all was well. If he did, i had to go home and face the music. Not like today with these spoiled fuckers.

Just to remind you......remember a few years back when i caught 3 kids fucking with my car? The outcome was 1 kid got arrested and the others let go. Why did it unfold like that?....because the kids cooperated and there was no need to arrest the other 2. One thing to note, when confronted, the parents of the kid that got arrested told me a heavy punishment was on the way for him and i've yet to see that kid ever again near my house since. I'd like to think he learned a lesson and moved past the matter.
