Well consoles do have their place but as far as online play goes, fps in general, the next big graphical advance and new tech in general the pc is untouchable. Ive played on both live and the ps3 online service and both have rather obvious glaring flaws that could easily have been fixed by how looking at how the pc does online, apparently that was too hard for sony or ms though (nintendo dont really count as their online is a pretty weak attempt and not one of the driving forces behind the console).

Starting up a TF2 site back in June would have been successful, but there's too many huge boards for that game now.
Battlefield Heroes could very well evolve into a successful board. I see that videos for that game are getting a lot of hits on gametrailers.com. More view than any other PC game right now.

you have to realise gerv that not everyone has unlimited funds like you to buy the latest pc setup for these future graphical advance. online services wise you will not like either of the 360 or ps3 because you dont like to interact, you dont like to talk via headset. this is a standard with say the 360 which makes it a great multiplayer experience. i agree its the wrong idea for a forum though.

Nothing to do with interaction, the truth of the matter is the majority of xbox live games you're playing peer to peer, which means rarely do you get a dedicated server and you're relying on someone elses connection being upto the task of hosting multiple people, with a pc the vast majority of games are hosted on dedicated servers so the problem of "is it up to it" is solved. Secondly some live games have a "server" browser but no ping meter, which means you can connect to a game hosted by someone in the uk and have it be a lag fest, then have to disconnect and find another server.
Why aren't browsers with pingmeters visible before joining the game a standard "must have" for live enabled games? Some have it some don't, and some have it while reporting wrong on how good the server latency is, think id rather connect once than have to fuck around connecting and disconnecting to find out if a server is "decent" or not.
The only reason i dont interact with a headset on live is mainly due to the fact the majority of players seem to do nothing but bitch when theyre playing, you get the odd game where its actualy fun to talk but from what ive expereinced most games turn into a bunch of angsty squeaky teenagers shouting "pwned" time and time again. In other words welcome to pc online circa 1999, just seems to be some new "original" fad to some of the console kids who obviously seem to think those words have never been uttered in a sentence before. Fortunately it seems to have made the pc online better, it seems most of the tards have shifted over to console gaming.
Oh yeah and please explain to me this "unlimited funds" bs? I save a bit of money, buy a card then when i want to upgrade sell it for a good price so i only have to add a small amount to get a new card, you honestly think im forking out £400 each time i want to buy a new card? Its called buying and selling before a component goes down in price too much.

the majority of people playing online on ps3 and 360 dont care or just ignore about the lack of dedicated servers, only someone as whiney as yourself would give a big enough crap to cry about it. as the same is for the headset thing, it works on xbox live and i have a hella good time interacting with friends and randoms whilst playing anything from call of duty to shouting random japanese phrases at some japs on katamari. whilst you may think every person on xbox live is a whiney bitch have a look in the mirror sometime as last time i checked you were the biggest whine bag around.
and hardware wise, who actually wants to waste time buying and selling hardware on a monthly basis to push those extra few pixels and frames per second by shifting and buying new graphics cards, ram, cpu, os, when i would rather buy a piece of hardware that will last for a long time and focus on buying games.

LoL you're a fucking idiot, you can never counter an argument with points you just fall back on your retarded little insults that are so stale they've lost all meaning. Come back when you evolve from a knuckle dragging mouth breathing arsehole to someone who has a brain that half functions properly.

revamp the forum. more of a casual message board rather than a game forum. game sections, music sections, cinema sections, female section (not for women stupid, for us to objectify women), etc. that would be kind of neat.

I like that idea, but one concern I would have with it is it would divide the members up between forums. We don't have the regular membership to sustain multiple sections. We can hardly sustain one offtopic section as it is.
I think we obviously all know we need to draw in new members or bring back old members. If we think a general forum will do that then i'm all for that. I think anti's idea is the best suggested so far.

Has the site been moved to a different server or host or something, feels pretty sluggish loading sometimes.

hey gerv link me to that call of duty 4 thread that magically disappeared or go sit back under that rock.
i dont think this forum has any life in terms of a huge amount of new members - to get new users you have to start a fresh, a forum thats been around since 2001 has had every type of thread and veteran members know all that shit about each other already. only life in what we have is what anti said but on a smaller scale, archive every subforum except from the offtopic politics and sigs and just live on doing what we are now like.
