I'll be picking up a copy for PS2 around lunch time. So far, I've heard alot of negatives, even for the PS2 version. Apparently, in the PS2 version, the game freezes for a couple seconds when you check someone into the boards, and even wehn you score. Not sure if this is true though. I can't wait to kick some ass with the Blackhawks and Maple Leafs! Any other fans?

Last one I bought was 2001, and I uninstalled it. I put 2000 back on.

2001 blew goat ass. Hopefully the new one will be less cartoony...I mean, Gino Odjick releasing a 107mph slap shot?!?!?

Puhleeze.

I had NHL 99 that hardly ran on my old P 200. 2002 wasn't too bad. I'll have to take a look at 2003, thanks for reminding mr.

Okay, this is just based on my experience so far through 3 games. My BIGGEST complaint is the camera, for some reason, when you turn off the reverse option, it still rotates slightly, and is WAY too close to the ice. I'm talking so close you cannot see half way across the ice to see who you can pass it to. All of the camera options flat out stink. The Dynamic deke is an absolute joke from what I can tell, it reminds me of past NHLs where you hold in a shoulder button and move the directional pad. Then of course there are the default options. It took me about 30 minutes to configure it properly to my taste. The default speed is so horrendously slow it'll drive you insane. While it has the typical known EA controls, I find them sluggish at ALL times and totally unresponsive. I fluked on a 2-0 breakaway because my guy wouldn't pass the puck even though I pressed X. Fighting just seems to get worse every new NHL game EA throws at us. Would you like to feel sick? Just to see what I'm talking about, jack the fighting slide all the way up, you'll see that EA has humiliated themselves again in the fighting department. What happened to the fun-filled fights we had in Sega Genesis? Dunno but they've been absent for about 10 years. There are glass breaking checks but, they are just as ridiculous looking as a player trying to use the Dynamic Deke. It just doesn't look good. The glass dissapears before the shreds fall below the boards. Not to mention, when it happened, I barely got hit. There are a few new animations that looked good, but nothing to write home about. I'll have to wait until I play someone to tell how the multiplayer is.
Graphics: 7 (slight improvement over 2002)
Sound: 7 (Um...it's EA, what did you expect?)
Gameplay: 6 (EA sports titles have always had great
gameplay until now.)

Fun Factor: 5 (shockingly, it isn't that much fun so
far)

OverAll: 7 (sad)

With more playing time, I'm sure this game will grow on me. Like I said, this is just based off of 3 games but, when you play it you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

I heard NHL2003 will suck for PS2 because its going to be the same as the past couple years but with updated rosters.

I'm waiting the extra month or 2 for NHL 2K3.

I heard its supposed to be like more realistic, like jumping over the bodies on the ground and the checking physics. Of course this is all hearsay.
