Default Admins: r u seeing weird lag lately? - 10-03-2002, 05:04 PM

I've got quite a few folks saying they are lagging out when the server and pipe aren't even breaking a sweat. I'm not experiencing it, but I have folks send me trace routes and some are pretty ugly. Now, these folks are regulars and never had this problem before. I've been working with my server provider but it appears the problem is with an ISP or two between the players and the server.

Is anyone else experiencing this, say in the past week or so?

i'm not an admin but i have been noticing very weierd lag lately, every now and again the ping will just shoot up to about 200ms then drop back down again. (i never used to get this on these 2 servers, i have a 512k cable modem).

This just in from XGS hosting

[quote:808bc]I have recieved information comtaining some problems with anyone currently using UUNET or going through UUNET. Im not aloud to really discuss it but I just wanted everyone to be aware if you are having a high ping "500ms or higher" it is due to a known issue as of 6AM this morning. There is a way for us to fix it but it will take a tracert and your ip adress to your home pc you play from. I wish I could tell you more but when big companies have troubles there is not much you can say with them freaking out.. So if you are one of the unlucky ones then please send me that information and we will have Internap reroute you around the certain routers you dont want to be going through. This problem is nation wide.[/quote:808bc]

Now THAT explains EVERYTHING!!! My problems happen whenever I go through Qwest. Funny thing is that aa.com's server doesn't get routed through them by my ISP, but my own server does. I'm switching to NY because of it.

Well, you'll all be happy to hear that I played a full night on my server with very little lag. What lag I did have was probably just AutoKick and TS working together in the background, and it was minimal at best. So it seems to me that UUNet must have cleared crap up, or maybe my ISP has finally gotten on the ball and rerouted some.

Woo Hoo!!!

A ton of the =KaoS= fellas have been experiencing lag on both =KaoS= servers, as well as other clan and pub servers. Tons of lag spikes. I know about the outage reports by UUNET. I think its going to take a bit of time for them to iron out all the issues they encountered on their backbone.

Yes i have noticed on both of our servers as well and RoTN server they havce two from the Gaming host/ The Fighting 61st company. They must be running off the same UUNET company because we have been getting lag spikes as well. Hmmm hope this stuff gets fixed. Its ok at times but then at times is laggin and spiking often.

I had a bad night on the aa.com server a few days ago ,my fps was in the red on a couple of the stock maps and i've never had that before . My ping was twice what it usually is , I thought something was going on as I live next door to the server host. Last night it was running okay.

The Truth to The Internet Lag:

A terrorist named Americana Bin-Suckin, has planted a virus which has eatin the memory and destroyed the programs of several internet hosting companies. In a matter of 13 hours and 54 minutes, 5 countries will be on the brink of utter havoc. At this time the NYSE will drop over 7,000 points. And the worlds economy will be nothing.

... ... and now you know.

oOo:
