Dumpuser Command serious question?

Hi,

Recently I was kick/banned from an over-Admined clan server for killing an [EVO] member. The kick/ban was unprovoked so I followed up in their forum, under guidance from another [EVO] member.

Ok the original excuse was I was apparently cheating, because I can get alot of kills sniping on Hunt, I explained that I dont use skins or any such cheats, and if they had the common sense to `dumpuser` they would have discovered this.

I Admin =FM=s own server on Jolt and so take a dim view of cheats in general also, this is why the response from an apparent `Head Admin` at [EVO] made me laugh...

"welldone on being an admin for jolt we at EVO are pround of you, you where using no fog cheat you where dumpused in that way. Next time u comment realise dumpuser dont just do skins it does alot more!! bad boy and i hope your buddys at jolt realise you cheat aswell"

This is a typical response from a clan server of this nature, so doesnt supprise me, however I am interested if there is anyway I can use `dumpuser` on our own server to detect cheats?

Id like to thank [EVO] The daddy2003 for his moronic response in their forum, several of the members were sympathetic and helpful, at least I know who kick/banned me for shooting better than him now.

check that q3console site that should be linked in the recent rcon list by rudedog.

unless you can feed it a parameter the guy is talking crap.
just trying to cover their asses would be my guess for some console-nazi

I agree. I can't find anything that helps display more than basic information about a user. And believe me, I've tried. This guy's obviously BS'ing you.

Dumpuser can return information about wallhacks, fog hacks, and trans door hacks. However, both the server and user must have lines added to the newconfig.cfg file. The lines are:

//No Fog
setu r_farplane 0
setu r_farplane_nocull 0
setu r_farplane_nofog 0

//Wallhack
setu r_lightmap 0
setu r_lockpvs 0
setu r_showSmp 0

//Transparent Door
setu r_novis 0

If any of these return as 1, someones using a hack/cheat. Unfortunately, this doesn't detect all cheats, in fact from what I hear, the more popular ones use seta. How this differs from setu.... I'm not even going to pretend to know. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this.

I'm not sure I understood anything you just said. In order to dump user info similar to what you just posted, both the server and user have to have specific code in the config file? Bah... I just repeated you and now I don't understand what I'm saying...

I guess what's confusing me is why would a cheater have this information in their config?

Well, the point was... I doubt that their server contained this text in the newconfig file. Even if they did, then [JaM]prey would have also had to have this added to his config. So, if only one or neither party had this, then they couldn't have gotten the info that he was/wasn't using a fog hack. Long story short... its possible to detect this through dumpuser, but I highly doubt they did. Now, to answer your question. No, a cheater wouldn't enter this into his newconfig file. However, since I see you're working on the new admin alliance, maybe you can make this mandatory somehow. Or maybe Dogmeat can create a simple prog that will do it for a user that can't figure out how to edit his/her config file. Just passing on some information that seems like it could be very useful. I'm just not sure how to apply it.

Perhaps we should "stow away" a new config file with all the confusing stuff with a brightly colored skin. Possiblly some other deviously devised downloads. Kinda like the gloves and nade in Zero's blood mod. Hey, its kinda like adding an eliment of intelligence gathering and espionage to mohaa. Adds realism to the game. eek:

So from what i can tell, since i doubt Prey went and added those lines to her config. Then there is no way that BS king could have known any of the things hes claiming. What an ass hat.

I'm not sure that making it mandatory would be a good idea. It would completely alienate new players or experienced players who've just never delved into the arena of adding mods or custom configs. Some people just aren't comfortable making modifications to their programs, even games.

well how do you get that extra info from dumpuser then?
i know i have that newconfig file in my main and when RudeDog was doing the rcon list i tested dumpuser and all it returned was the skins info. non-dedicated server..... but considering i was bothe the server and client it should have been available if it works.

any more info on how to get it?

Set - sets a variable to a value.
Seta - sets the variable and makes it permenant, but writing it into a config file.
Setu - sets a variable and makes it avaible to the server.

So any variable set with the setu will be available to the server with the dumpuser command.

well ill go have a look at that and try changing it from seta to setu see if it shows up.
