Why does the american army use ww2 "style" helmets -

Just realised this last night when watching blackhawk down. The american helmets are virtually identical to the german ww2 helemt aside from the materials they are made of.
Only real difference is they don't cover the ears as much as the german helmets did. eek:

Well there are some modern helmets of countries around the world. They all take on some shape of the German Style WWII helmet.
Couldn't find an american one though. Maybe a someone can find a screen from the movie to compare, but I don't think they would be much different from the above helmets.
Its freaky to look at this stuff. The germans were so fuckin far ahead in terms of tech but with all their superior weapons it was the old numbers game that beat them ed:
Who woulda thought that the mg-42 would have been ripped off into an american machine gun years later? Or the old helmet design the germans used would still be in use 60 years later?

Well, the M60 has the same mechanics as the fg42, and the mg42 (MG3)design is still in use by the bundeswehr and other smaller countries. They were very far ahead of their time back in the day, that's why they held out as long as they did.
if that DumbFuck hitler would have given the control of the army to Rommel the war woulda either lasted alot longer or the axis woulda won
Rommel was relativley unknown at the start of WWII. He was not really discovered until the desert war, and by then Hitler had everything sorted out in his image.
its all the same except for the back, its curved up a bit so u can look up and it wont bother your neck, these things weigh less than ww2 issued though probably.
