I thought it was great fun! Spooky, jumpy, and quite funny.
Joaquin Phoenix is really great in it. He made me bust out laughing a few times.
Ignore the silliness of the ending and watch it for what it's worth...a good popcorn flick.

I saw this movie and holy shit it scared me....but not as much as The Ring HOLY SHIT I was so scared the crap rushed outta me and took a plane to Timbuctoo.
Signs I thought was a good movie. The way I see it is that the aliens represent some kind of personal trauma or demons. The guy who killed Mel's wife had problems ie the alien in his cupboard but really he felt real guilty because he killed Mels wife in a car accident. His way of dealing with his problems was to pack up and leave.
Mel however, lost faith in his God. Blocked out the world (boarded up his house). That was his way of dealing with it.
Anyways thats what I think...I could be wrong.
***SPOILER***
One more ting to note I mean wtf were the aliens thinking???? Water kills them I mean ffs even a gun would own them if he could beat him with a baseball bat. Also it couldn't even make its way out of a friggin pantry. They might as well have invaded with spastic kids.

A lot of you guys are missing the point to this movie.
This movie is not about killing aliens and such. There are no shotguns in the movie to blow the aliens heads off, rather this is about a family and thier faith in each other and God. Do we really hear anything about what is going on outside the house? Not really. We hardly see anything. This is an internal battle between the family.
I would expect a lot of people here not to like it because there are a lot of athiests.
Some of you have to look beyone what you think, know and believe and try to see it from a different perspective. If you can do this you can still enjoy the movie.
It was meant to be spooky, but it was alos meant to make you think about the way we work. M. Night does this very well, like in all of his movies. You don't have to agree, but you can still enjoy it.

Go tough man Irishman Gerard! Not spooked by Signs. COMON!
I don't know how you weren't scared at times in this movie. Did you like the Sixth Sense? Or do you like your horror flicks like Scream?

Scary? This movie wasnt scary in the least. I went with my X girl and even she thought it was tame.
Over all im indifferant about this movie. Some parts are good others your taking a quick snooze. I enjoyed the reaction of the people, some very good acting, and the writers are to be commended for dipicting a fairly accurate human reaction.
They are to be shunned from ever writing again for the ending. Water... fucking water... As Geralds linked review clearly shows the lack of thinking put into that element. I did enjoy the tie in's from all the elements of the family, though most were fairly lame, such as the water.
If a little bit more thinking had gone into certain elements i think this movie could have made my top ten.
2.75 stars. Brought down by some ill thought elements, but a good overall representation of human behavior, and religious struggle.
