[quote="Eight Ace":6829b]when someone like ninty9 comes along to say hello, and is all but told to fuck off by a mod
(who knows him well) and has his thread locked for what seemed like a reason of semantics...
then, off-topic or not, that is just plain rudeness and bullshit.[/quote:6829b]
AGREED.

[quote:76817]Whether "Ed's Greatest hits" is spam or not depends on what the message is. If "ed's greatest hits" is all that the thread is all about, without any explanation whatsoever, then of course it won't make any sense to normal users.[/quote:76817]
The thread had links to different posts that I had put up on the board. The point was to humorously look back on what kind of things I had done, and yanno maybe have a yaya at the good old days. There are NUMEROUS threads talking about "the way we was". They dont get closed. JOE in his infinite wisdom and ability to discern what is "right" took a look at who's name was on the thread, and LOCKED IT!. I COULD have resurrected 10 different threads and posted responses to them, cluttering up the front page...instead I created one NEW one, and condenscned it all.
Didn't have a chance in hell.
But a thread, about another guys computer, which amounts to FLUFF and "jealousy" (but of course... oOo: ), is open, still open. I think it's fluff and poof but hey, it's Offtopic and gets to stay.
Or, rather, you S.T.F.U. and get banned.

This is something you'll never get from me: locking threads unless a serious
reason comes up. So far, little threads have shown merit in being locked.
I will proceed (in another, fresh thread) to investigate what should or should
not be considered spam and the proper way to deal with it...
I think I'll be a most excellent "mod" cool:

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Instead of posting ANOTHER reply, and making some attempt to keep the thread ON TOPIC and free of flames, we get this. Goodness I love it all.

I'm not being funny and I'm rarely one to bother involving myself in these arguments, but I've seen threads locked recently that have absolutely no reference to those rules posted earlier.
I mean, by now I should have been warned and banned because I've posted over 4-5 messages in a row, but that's because of the lack of the edit button refered to in the rules.
I've seen threads about cheats locked simply because they've been discussed before so many times. Well, not for the new user who posted about it.
They haven't posted to boost their post count (it's 1-10 in most cases), they haven't gone off topic as cheating is a valid topic for the forum I've seen them posting on, and the topic makes sense.
So, by these rules they should not be locked, but they are.
There should be a new rule subsection:
e) If your topic has been discussed before then it will be locked at the moderators' discretion.
How silly would that be? The general forum would have about 5 pages of discussion if this were the case.
I understand having to keep the forum clean of spam, especially needless spam that will clog this already creaking server, but this is supposed to be a public forum for discussion about the game.
If threads are to be locked for repetition then the mods could at least close the thread with a link to the latest thread with the same topic so the creator of the topic should be able to continue their discussion.
In this case I'd imagine there's a topic of similar (if not exact same) vein on the same page of topics so this shouldn't be too hard.
Otherwise all you're doing is saying "Come post on our forum, but if you dare talk about something that has been said before we will stop you from talking about it."
I really don't think using the search tool on a forum as vast and clogged as this one is a viable option, so the easiest way for a newbie to the board to get info that they need is to post a topic asking for it.
If the answer is only a few posts down then lock the thread and point the poor bugger to the right place.
That's my suggestion and it's a serious one.
A person who has posted here almost 10,000 times is much more likely to find any topic old and boring, compared to someone who's only just bought the game, but does that mean the newbie doesn't have the right to discuss it?

No wonder you closed NINTY's thread - reading between the lines. Not a strong point.
You asked if I quoted myself. I said NO. And then went on to subtlely say that NOCTIS in his grand understanding of just what a mod is, decided to delete and then REPLACE a portion of my fucking post to suit his interests.
So, once again - got me a poser on MY JOCK.
Abusing mod powers.
See - that wasn't TOO hard...was it?

No, but it would have been alot easier just saying "No, Noctis decided to edit my post". You know, that would be the logical thing to do.
