Yeah in order to do that though is to have Badscript hand over everything to Zoner. With Zoner's current status as admin, he is limited to certain things.

Thanks for the input, T.
Here's the scoop:
- I don't have any access to the store mod. None. I'd love to make that useful and fun, but unfortunately I can't.
- Usergroups: I'll look into that. May be something I can set up.
- Unused forums: I can definitely smoke forums, but whether BS would appreciate that is another story. Seeing as though he's not around, he probably wouldn't mind.
I have to say that the foums have been really cool lately. Of course our group is still a little rough around the edges, but that's what makes this place fun.
I may not say it a lot, but I do appreciate the effort you guys make in trying to keep the forums interesting, while at the same time keeping within our set of rules.
Cheers motherfuckers.

The impression I get from this is he has washed his hands of the site, and moved on to better things... and good for him, no harm done.
I don't think he would have any problem with providing you the needed FTP access and file access needed to make changes.
Perhaps an E-Mail to see?
If you need help with the Usergroup stuff, shoot me an PM. I set up a similar system for some old clan mates a few months back.

I would be careful about making big changes - I mean, if it ain't broke don't fix it. We're going pretty casually cool at the moment and you wouldn't want anything to screw that up....

Understandable, and don't let me come off as I'm trying to suggest anything that would piss anyone off, or suggest a domain change , or something like that.
I just think that some additions would be cool. Sort-of a merge of VC & AA. The best parts of both sites, with all the guys here.

Ive tried joining other forums, but theres something about AA.com that keeps me coming back for more. Perhaps all the deliciously sexy men...I really dont know. I like some of the suggestions made, especially getting rid of some boards which are not used. Maybe bringing in some more popular games instead of just Military Shooters as well.

A UserGroup is defined as a set of members with special permissions. That can range from being able to mod a single area of the forum, to access to restricted forums, and allowing new members into a usergroup.
At VC, usergroups could be created by anyone with enought starting members to warrent them. The group would be given thier own private area to post about group tactics ect.
Their purpose at VC was to engage in battles, wars, ect. for respect and prosperity. However usergroups could be used for anything. It was once described to me as a tiny clan, with no gaming invloved.
It is a very cool way to add some activity to the site, and can be managed with limited support needed.

That was kind of what the new system was like, but the old system was a lot better (I think). The old system was mainly the usergroups competing by making things for the shop and using the money from those things for influence and gaining more money. While the new system (as I intended it) was essentially mini-clan wars competing for members, it didn't work quite like that though.
The main problem is that you'd get a few very dedicated members (like yourself and wilko) that actually did want to play along and worked to make their groups better, and then you'd get people joining those group that didn't really want to play along, but just wanted to be apart of the group for status on the forums.
The another problem is one group would become too big or too popular or too influential and the other groups couldn't really compete at all.
But it would be interesting to see how this would work on a more "mature" forum.

I'm all for these 'changes'.
I definately agree with a move from military gaming to a more 'offtopic' forum. Yeah keep some of the active forums but minimise them to just a general gaming section with a few specific forums. Having new forums such as music etc would be cool too.
The shop definately needs looking into, getting site root access would grant certain trusted members access to modify the shop.
Trip - making a backup of the database and files would stop things from getting 'fucked up' like you mentioned, maybe we would lose a few hours should something mess up but its worth a try.
