Yeah, me too. I read that review a few days ago and it piqued my interest.

It could very well suck hogballs, but I don't think it'll be as bad as I initially thought it would be.

I still think they shoulda cast this guy as Sarge:

He was awesome as Buck in Band of Brothers...Im still dissapointed they didnt choose him, because he has the biggest resemblence to Sarge.

The Rock.... annoy:
Come on, just compare these two images:

Not much new, but pretty cool:

[quote:160f0]GN: First off, tell me how you came to the project.

KARL URBAN: First came to the project… Well, first of all, my agent called me up and said "Do you know the videogame Doom? I went, "Hell yeah!" Vin [Diesel] and I used to play it all the time when we were shooting Chronicles. At his house, he has this massive, massive 10-foot screen. And she said, "Well, they are building… the facility in Prague and they want you to be the guy." And I'm like, "Oh, wow. Cool!" So she gave me the script and I was really pleasantly surprised to see how well-developed and well-structured the script was. It had great characters, a fantastic character arc for my character. I play the character of John Grimm, aka The Reaper, so obviously he's pretty good at what he does.

You know, the challenge when you're playing any sort of hero is to imbue the character with as [many] humanistic qualities as possible and fortunately for me, the character was so well written, it was going to be easy to do. He starts off the film as this soldier who is good at his job, but he's been through some personally traumatic experiences in his life, and the consequence is that he's one of those people who's confident at what he does, which is killing things, but maybe less confident in other areas, and through the course of the film, you get to see him grow and change and he's kind of really at the moral center of the picture. There's a line in this job that you cross; it's a line [between] being a killer and being a murderer. You know, killing is what they do for a living, but being a murderer is quite entirely different. So, that's kind of my… Just reading the script and getting really excited about it. It was a no-brainer, really.

IGN: So was it fun to hold all those guns and be dressed up in the gear the whole time?

URBAN: I loved it. I loved it. I've never had so much fun. We trained really, really long, intense hours so we could get to the point where we could effectively be this special forces unit. We trained with this guy called Tom who was ex-SAS, British SAS, been in the regiment for 25 years and had a lot of highly unrepeatedable tales to tell. He taught us… skills we were gonna need, you know. Communicating without talking with your hands, certain deployments, he taught us weapons, weapons safety, and I was actually able to incorporate some of the other things I learned off of Tom, some of his sayings and stuff, and getting them into the film.

They assembled a really top-rate cast for this film. Richard Brake, a fantastic young actor from England, as is Al Weaver. Deobia and Ben… just really, really solid guys. And all of them have integral, vital parts to play in this film and they're all uniquely different.

IGN: Did you feel like the physicality of being in Lord of the Rings and Riddick prepared you for this?

URBAN: To a certain extent. Nothing prepares you for Doom. Four months of dark corridors and med labs and blood and firing weapons. That was just day in and day out. Loading, unloading thousands of rounds.

IGN: Were they loud on the set? Did they actually chatter away?

URBAN: Oh yeah. They do, yeah they do. I got a real buzz off it, a real kick.

IGN: It's like playing soldiers in your backyard.

URBAN: Exactly. They built me this three-dimensional version of the game, and I just rampaged through it.[/quote:160f0]

Im near sure the hellknight was a new demon for doom 3, it looks nothing like a baron of hell, they had like horse stlye legs etc.

http://www.silverblades-suitcase.com/ad ... ofhell.jpg

The main demons in the game all look similar to their counterparts in the original doom, the hellknight looks nothing like any of the original ones, so id assume it was something new they made ofr the game, if it had been a baron of hell it would have still looked something like it. Ive the book on the making of doom 3 and they artist that done the models tried to carry over stuff so people would know what the demons would have been in the orignal doom.

Yeah! The Bruiser Brothers! I remember them... I had a chaingun, and kept blasting and strafing, non-stop, for around 4 minutes, running around them, trying to get their back-ends, firing non-stop...jeeze.

Here's hoping the Spider Mastermind is in it:

Christ, I'll just die if I see that on the screen.

It would have been cool to see the Spider Mastermind in Doom 3.

Christ, the entire game I wish'd it'd come. They had that awesome looking HoE mod coming out, but all of a sudden the guys quit to work on Quake 4 - and they were so far into it!

Now, this is just me, but I like the new HellKnight. It resembles a big, stocky, dog. The original looks too much like a mini version of the Cyberdemon.

And have you ever looked closely enough at it? Theres drool leaking out of its mouth....I was so freaking amazed when I saw that, it was clear and moving, and seemed so life-life...just spawn one, and put on no target if you havent seen the stuff yet.

The original hellknight for doom 3 was actually this guy:

When it was first show most people thought it was an imp design. I actually liked this version better than the current hellknight, that bird face kind of made it look more denomic or evil to me, the current hellknight hasn't even got eyes, they named it turtlehead at id.

The slime is a nice feature though, its something you very rarely notice but just shows attention to detail. Im still wondering why in the hell levels they all seem to have alternate skins, its like a glowing red running through them, makes them stand out a lot more as well.

This is a persoonal favourite though, this guy just HAS to be a zombified redneck, has the trademark belly hanging down to his knees, a few strands of hair, about 3 teeth and he's gimping along with a chainsaw, Took this screen earlier, this is what he does when noones looking. biggrin:

Wow, I thought that was the original Imp design too.

They would have had to make that thing like 20ft tall to be a hellknight because it looks puny as hell.

The green hellknights with the glowing pentacles and runes in hell was cool as uh.. hell.

They were green? I never let the fuckers get close enough to notice anything outside of the red veins or whatever, my bfg had some words with em about maintaining a safe distance. biggrin:
