from an interview:
[quote:041b3]Bear: That was the first show I did, and health and safety insisted if I wanted to get in that river with those rapids, I had to wear a thin flotation device for one particular shot. After that show, I told the producers if I'm going to do it, I need to do it on my terms, i.e. no vest. And the rest of the series, they've allowed me to do it all my way.[/quote:041b3]
not to mention this guy has a family. i mean, the point of the show is to show survival techniques in life or death situations. because he isnt 'really' in one, i wouldnt blame him for not risking his life to show a technique that would only be used in a drastic situation.

They had a huge marathon on all day of him yesterday. I DVR'd them all and watched 3. Dude is fucking awesome, he was eating maggots of dead animals then eating fish live and shit

Yeah I watched it. I've never seen an episode of the show until yesterday. He knows a lot about the small aspects of survival (extracting the oil from coconut to protect your skin from sun/salt water) but a lot of the things he did I was thinking about before he said it (i.e. eating bird eggs in the desert).

It's a real cool show, but the only thing that annoys me is the way he's constantly panting and puffing when he talks to try to make it sound harder than it really is. He was grunting and making noises on one episode whilst tying together some snow shoes. I was like WTF lol.

he had been out in the snow for 4 days prior to that with about 45 minutes of sleep.
