First of all, Im sorry for digging this up, but I cant be arsed to start a new thread.
Then again, its only me that hasnt been able to check back in for a week now.
Secondly; Duke, get the fuck out of my thread, and never return. oOo:
And now to the update: This last week, weve been practicing winterwarfare, basically.
Weve been crawling around in the snow, finding firing positions in the forest,
all while it was -20 C and while wearing full combatgear (regular M90 uniform,
snowuniform, combatharness and belt), plus a backpack weighing(sp?) in at around 30-35 kg.
Weve also been marching around for about 5-8 km a day this week, in the outfit described above.
Nothing of this has really bothered me, except for the cold. Anyways, yesterday
was the first time we got to fire our AK's, and it wasnt that big of a happening tbh.
Its a very fine calibre gun, only 5.56, which means theres not that much of a recoil to it.
The gun is also constructed in a fucked up way, so that the recoil kicks the gun up more
than back. Ah well, our platooncommander, Lt. Ericsson, told us hes requested new
AK's for us; the AK5CF, which only has been used by special striketeams in the army before.
He also told us that theres a huge chance that we will be testing various foreign guns
later in our training. Ive already made sure im going to try the MP5, the M4 and hopefully an M60.
Well, thats all from me for now, check back next weekend for a new update (this upcoming
week we are having fieldtraining. Sleeping in the snow for 3-4 days.)
PS. Yeah, its mandatory here in Sweden aswell. But I dont complain, I love it.
Im being promoted to Corporal in about 123 days or so.
Over and out. happy:

The US Army is silly. You get a medal or completeing basic training, and throwing a grenade. GG Army. Ive been in the marines for 2 years and ive got 2 ribbons.

I was thinking about ROTC for long time, but turhtfully, I think I would make a terrible lieutenant. Just for a whole bunch of reasons, really...
...Navy kinda looks pleasing to me. I mean, one of those battleships has enough god damn power to bomb out England sitting still.

Two years, one would be the National Defence. What is the other one? I served 4 years and only got two, The National Defence and a Good Conduct.

Your thread is to awesome for me to stay away. Anyways, it is great that you are serving your country without complaining. It also seems like you are proud to do so. I should get to go into the Air Force as an E-2(Airman Basic), because I should have 20 college hours. I want get to do all that cool stuff you are, but it should be fun. Maybe one day we shall meet while fighting some crazy enemy, we can only hope.
