When I was working at an airport a planes landing gear failed and we had to rush out to the scene. Thankfully it was just a stripped out citation going in to be redone at the body shop and only the pilot and copilot were on board and were both uninjured. deffanitly a weird experience.

My dad was working at the time at Air Canada...was stuck there for awhile while the emergency vehicles came in...

Every single person survived...I guess luck is on our side.

Unless the terrorist's can control weather, I don't think they had anything to do with it

[quote="Mr.Buttocks":939a3]Has anyone here ever been in a plane crash?[/quote:939a3]

My friend said he was on a plane that was struck by lightning, and then went into a freefall for about 7 seconds. He said everybody was yelling out "FU*K" while they were falling too.

The Captain of the plane makes the call whether to land or divert the plain in these types of situations. The reason why it skidded off the runway, is because the tires of the plane could not withstand the force of hitting the ground at that speed and they all blew, so the plane just skidded off the runway into the ditch.

I heard a story on the news that one guy driving along the highway stopped his car, climbed over the fence to where the plane had finished skidding, went inside the plane and helped the pilot search the plane in case there were any people left behind. rock:

Also someone already tried to get a lawyer and wanted to try and sue the pilot/airline, but the police aren't doing any criminal investigations, and no jerk offs trying to make money off this.

Glad to hear everyone made it out alive, this is truly a miracle, and this pilot should be awarded for doing such a good job.

I actually disagree... Yes he stayed on the plane until everyone else had been evacuated, but... if he hadnt have landed so hard in the first place all the tyres wouldnt have popped. Do u actually know how hard u have have to land to pop the tyres on a plane. He must have landed extremely hard. Ideally he should have been diverted to another airport. But even when landing the ILS takes you right through your approach attitude and into your final. All the pilot really needed to to was flare is aircraft (not a hard thing to do when u have experience even in low visibility). If the worst came to the worst, the instruments are very accurate and relying on them should have made that plane do a perfect landing. I've flown a plane (done 8hr 30 mins), At the end i was able to fly complete circuits and land perfectly, without instruments and hightech ILS equipment. This mistake shouldnt have happened, this could have gone MUCH worse!

I'm just glad there wasnt any fatalities.

While it's true that any landing that you walk away is a good landing, slamming the aircraft on the runway, hard enough to blow out all the tires, is not a sign of a competent pilot, regardless of the weather.

The plane lost a shitload of altitude, causing the plane to drop at a really fast rate. That's what made it hit so hard, he didn't have any control of the plane's descent. It's not like he did it on purpose, he was in the middle of a major storm, with hail and massive winds. Also, you don't know how much fuel was in the plane. He might not have had enough fuel left to divert

Anyway until we know exactly what happened it's all speculation. The truth will come out eventually
