that was most likely caused bythe plane lowering its nose or by stalling - both of which can be detected and recovered in its early stages. Pilots are trained to cope with these types of situations. My above comment still stands.

they say the pilot decided to try to land in a severe rainstorm despite being advised to defer to another airport.
