Opossum means the same as Possum.

hahahha
'possum is friggan slang for opossum
|
possum is a slang for opossum in North america, however, the virginia opossom (common North American Species) is different from a possom which is native to Austrailia and was brought to New Zealand though both are marsupialia

The would not have opossums and possums under two different names if they were not two different creatures.

Are you fucking retarded?
Yes. We do have different possums down here from the ones in North America, they're two subspecies of the same marsupial. The Possum/Opossum.
They're not distinguished by one being a "possum" and the other "opossum." They two names mean the exact same thing.
They have them both listed so that you can type in both alias and recieve the same thing. It would be fucking retarded if you could punch in Opossum and get nothing, and then type in Possum and get something.
Do you get it, or do we need to spell it out with fucking "my first alphabet" fridge magnets for you to understand?
